From all reports, he tried to money-whip the big time coaches and they all said no. This is as good of a hire as we could reasonably expect with the looming penalties. If his offense works here, he will make the program better, which is more than anyone can say about the last 4 coaches. I'm...
If he wins 4 games next year, he's on track. If he wins more than that, he's ahead of the game. He's implementing a completely new system, he'll have fewer scholarships than normal and he'll be using players he didn't recruit. If we can score points in bunches, as his offense tends to do, we...
Yep, I don't see Lebby happening for this reason (Ink's still wet on his new contract @ $1.2M per year). Are they ready to make Lebby one of the highest paid OCs in the country? Don't get me wrong, I'd love it, I just don't see it happening.
Heupel is a good hire. A sitting coach with an exciting offense that wins games. Is it the home run we always hope for? No. Is it the most proven hire we've made in a long time? You bet. How he fills out his staff will determine how excited I get at this point.
Maybe the plane is on it's way to pick up DWs family so that they can attend the presser that cement's his legacy as the GRESTEST AD IN THE WORLD!!! (Or maybe it's just picking up Heupel...)
Alright, I'll be that guy. These criteria would apply to a high school coach as well. I don't think that's going to happen, but I'm certainly not getting my hopes up for a quality NFL coach at this point.
Just listened to John Brice on Nashville radio. Hearing him say how close the CHF hire was then hearing him say that we've now "hit the reset button" on the search sucked the last bit of give a crap I had left right out. Wake me up when this annual nightmare is over...again.
We're beyond the point in this search where we can be picky about the type of offense the guy runs (which I would be excited to see BTW). The #1 job right now is stabilizing the program after this debacle, not worrying about championships, unfortunately. Do we think he can consistently make...
If I knew that Kiffin would take the job, I'd be good with offering it to him, but I honestly think he'd drag us around, then shoot us down via Twitter and go take the Arky job to rub it in our faces.
While I agree that the administration has botched this coaching search beyond repair, if we keep talking about protesting and petitions, we're never going to see nother winning season in Knoxville. Why would anyone want to walk into this environment right now? This is going to be painful.
I'm shell-shocked after today. I honestly don't know what to think anymore. What I do think is that Currie needs to drop the silence and address this coaching search fiasco immediately. Defend coach Schiano if you're confident in the man. Tell us how he's convinced you the reports aren't...
I've been hopeful but pessimistic about JG coming both in 2012 and this year. After hearing his answer on M&M this morning, I feel pretty confident that something is in the works. Who knows if it will all get settled in the end, but this is the first time I've had a real feeling that it could...
