I don't think it was that - just trying to expand the audience south. Whether it's a good marketing move is a different question but I don't see a conspiracy here.

Petty was the highwater mark for me followed closely by Prince. Bruno Mars was a huge surprise to me because I had no reference. I thought this one was inconsequential - not offensive but not interesting.

I loved him in Happy Gilmore 2 but consider his acting talent better than his singing - if his lyrics are genius I won't know.

Is it in your top 10? 15? I thought it was BORING. I didn't care for K. Lamar or the Weekend but both were more interesting than this one to me.

rapping and no instruments - I get popularity but not a lot of talent on display. as comparison, Bruno Mars killed it and the talent gap was massive.

I think the bipartisan consensus has to be that was of nearly zero entertainment value (hot dancers) and the only reason it will be talked about is people saying it was "so brave" and people saying "deport him" arguing back and forth.

the language isn't the problem with this show...

this half time show perfectly fits the game so far.
