I suspect this whole thread is based on nonsense.
Do you have any hard numbers to back up this claim that we're underweight across all of these positions?
meh. I don't think you make it to this level without being a competitor. And for most of these dudes, their whole identities are tied up in how they play football. So yes, I'd say they care.
'Course, you're competing in a league full of elite competitors who care. When margins are this thin...
Perhaps it's because he clearly gave up on the play early?
And fwiw.... his locker room shenanigans and NIL holdout put him under the microscope. Perform and all is forgiven. Get burned by a true freshman and give up on the play, it's naturally going to piss some fans off.
Agree with it or...
This is no doubt part of it.
Combine that with injuries and the lack of experienced, talented depth, and none of us should be surprised with what we're seeing.
Not sure why Inge is even in this conversation. Issues at linebacker are personnel-based. Do you really think Inge's ability to develop is the source of speed issues with guys like Telander?
Of course not. Furthermore, it'd be silly to blame personnel issues on a coach hired in Feb. '24.
TLDR...
Honestly, I tend to agree with ya. If you look at the top QB's of the portal era, few end up at their original school of choice.
It's almost the exact opposite problem MLB teams face with free agents. In their case, they end up paying $$ for the decline. When it comes to QB's, you're paying...
Reality is, demand still outweighs supply. If I were consulting with the athletic department, the first advice out of my mouth would be to raise prices.
Seems pretty simple. No more recruiting. No more constant NIL "re-negotiations". No whiny parents. No fundraising and construction projects. Just managing ball players at the pinnacle of the sport. And doing it for more money and first class accommodations.
They clearly are, otherwise the market would not pay them. Frankly, If they are at capacity they’d be justified in raising prices again.
That’s how the market works.
I'd say this is a big part of it. Which is probably why he dialed back tempo after so much success early on.
Tough line to walk. Offense plays better with tempo. Defense clearly lacks the depth to maintain it.
DW didn't price out fans. The market did. Which tends to happen when you win. Reality is, he should probably raise rates again if they are consistently at capacity.
meh. We're talking an 80%(+) probability on that kick. Even higher before the Umarov penalty. Anyone should happily take those odds to beat a team like Georgia. Complaining about Heupel is absurd. He put us in a position to win.
Ding ding. I’m shocked by so many blaming heupel. Georgia needed a 4th down completion on a low percentage throw and a choke on the FG to beat us. Heupel had us in position to win with a 37 yd chip shot…. We just failed to execute. Against a top team, id take those odds every single time.
