I wonder how much is priority of a given sport. UT no doubt is all in on football NIL money. At this point men's BB is certainly second, leaving WBB 3rd at best. Compare that to, say, UConn. WBB is likely at worst 2nd behind the men's team, with football who knows where in the pecking order...

How many reports of "Danny White reached out via back channels and hired her replacement before firing her" do you really expect to hear? I mean, it might have happened like that, it might not, but the only thing out there now is what the AD wants out there.

To continue the thought, it seems counterproductive too. You have a salary pool for assistants, but unless your spouse is a great coach, it's not going to contribute to your success nearly as much as hiring a great coach with the same money.

And I think that's just nepotism in general. Some people can't stand it, and in some cases rightfully so. This falls somewhere between "my child is carrying on the family business" (perfectly ok) to "we're getting rare contracts and hiring my wife too" (usually very inappropriate).

I'd guess it's like when a football head coach is fired. The staff stays on just in case they're wanted by the incoming coach (and to defray buyouts), but they're lame ducks in the extreme.

Yeah, she's the one who could assemble that staff though. I think she'd only leave the WNBA for TN or UConn (well Stanford too), and she'd have to directly follow Geno with UConn, so TN seems like the best college spot for her. She'd be the first call I'd make if I were DW.
