    Ainge and Simon this morning

When you don't have the talent advantage is when coaching gets revealed... or exposed.

It was. OVERWHELMING talent can make an awful coach look better than he is. That D also benefited strongly from the Covid additional year. They had 3 deep at DL with starter quality guys.

Aren't You Glad that Jimbo Is No Longer As Involved With the Vols Coaching Hires

Bet you'd change your mind if it were your money... even if you had to defend a bad call.

    Ainge and Simon this morning

I got in trouble with a lot of posters by saying things like this since early on. I'm not sure about the soft part. I just don't have that insight. But predictable? Opponents might as well have been on UT's headsets.

    Joey Aguilar Eligibility Discussion

Actually, I "care". I want him to be able to come back and believe it would be ultimately GOOD for college football if guys could play 2 years in JUCO followed by 4 at the NCAA level. Two years to mature and learn to be a student without facing much more developed athletes. Four years to...

    Joey Aguilar Eligibility Discussion

None of those answers fit me but at the end of the day... let's go with the best we've got.

JA granted temporary restraining order against NCAA eligibility rules

And you still have not given any reason other than your "feelings" to explain why. You haven't tried to explain why it wouldn't be BETTER for the athletes and quality of the game. It most definitely WOULD be good for the "academic" side of "student athlete". You're reacting emotionally...

JA granted temporary restraining order against NCAA eligibility rules

Somewhere NCAA leaders and their lawyers are huddled up trying to figure out their best strategy. This ruling likely indicates a bias toward JA. So does the NCAA want to risk fighting and creating a precedent across the country in Knox County? My guess is they'll try to angle for a different...

JA granted temporary restraining order against NCAA eligibility rules

Don't abandon the high ground when he hasn't offered a reason other than his feelings. We've seen a lot of things that have made CFB WORSE. This has GREAT potential to mitigate some of that damage and reward the players who are truly "amateurs" trying to get an education.

JA granted temporary restraining order against NCAA eligibility rules

Why? What good, objective reason do you have? It is actually just the opposite as a rule. The 18 and 19 year olds are typically NOT ready to compete against the 20-24 year olds they already face. So why not give kids a "grow up" period in JUCO so they're on a more equal plain when they join...

JA granted temporary restraining order against NCAA eligibility rules

No reason it has to be a slippery slope or bad for CFB. It could actually rectify some of the damaging things lately. You would still have "5 star HS players" who go straight to a 4 year school. You'd still have guys leaving early for the NFL. But you would also have an opportunity for "late...

    Peace Out

No. The truth is that WE caused it. Not sure how old you are but I remember when ESPN was created and started carrying extra games. Before that, viewers pretty much got whatever ABC decided to carry. They usually carried highly ranked teams so I saw more of OU than UT or other close schools...

    Peace Out

Genetics? Explain. Agree on diet, S&C, and becoming pretty much their full time occupation instead of just a "sport". But today's athletes are coming out of the same gene pool as those 260 lb Nebraska guys with no neck. Oddly, a lot of steroids were involved in getting guys that big back in...

    Peace Out

It was NEVER supposed to be like that. It was supposed to be free education for athletes... not an exchange for services like professional sports. It is the difference between "amateur" and "professional". It is a moot point. Amateur athletics at the D-1 level are a thing of the past. Might...

    Peace Out

Minus the emotionalism... pretty much agree. I hate to lose what college football was but let's be honest. It ended somewhere around 1980. Similar to NASCAR's decline into commercialism over sport. In the 70's how big was the typical lineman? How much time did players spend in the off...
