1. Mostly good QB and special teams play, but the mistakes/misfires from BOTH areas were killers.
2. A defense that was undisciplined most of the year.
Love the upside of David Sanders, but blocking down on that sack strip fumble, while letting the outside guy have a free run on your QB and then not making any effort to tackle the DE who recovered the fumble was one of his worst plays as a Vol. Chalk it up to a freshman mistake.. we had a...
Not all coaching works the way you want. When it works, you are golden. When it doesn't everyone notices. I was more perplexed with putting Staley back to field the first two punts on Saturday vs. Boo. I think it led to Staley having his worst day in a vols uniform. You could make the...
Not sure how many snaps, looked like one drive was what he got. He was pumped to come in…. Our seats were on the 45 yard line. I made sure to watch him on every play. False start aside, nothing he did looked like a freshman player. Going to be a good one for us.
Encouraged by the offense. Unsure of the defense (especially DL depth), but all in on Heupel. Why would we not be, he brought us out of a couple of decades of irrelevance. Go Vols!
Observations from yesterday’s win over Bama after sleeping like a baby.
1. Having to sit through ESPN’s man crush on Alabama for 80% of the game only to see TN pull it out made for an extremely enjoyable ending and peaceful night of sleep.
2. Hearing Nate Oats say “we have to do a better job...
I’m tempted to sit myself smack in the middle of the home section with the seat backs. You can get those seats around the 40 yard line for only 450.00. Might be one of the few times where I joke with my friends to look for me and tell them I will be the one in orange, and it actually works.
Great write up. Thannks!
The only momentum NC State had all night was the first drive where they used quick passes to mute what would eventually turn into our Dline’s dominance. When they ran 1/2 the 1st quarter clock off on that first drive I remembered thinking I understood their game plan...
Love seeing him get back to form. He's special. Not sure about one game, but I bet if anyone wanted to research it............ his 7 day stretch (3 games) stacks right up there as one of the best.
Agree. Don't overlook the fact we actually had a game where we got to shoot FT's........... lol I feel like our reputation as a football team playing basketball is causing big discrepancies in the total fouls called. Was nice to see a game with an fairly even number of fouls called on both...
I hope Joe Milton can silence many in the same way Hadden has. He’s playing well since FL and I’m happy to see him getting recognition.
Miserable Vol fans are plentiful, though most of them aren’t old enough to remember the 90s, followed by wandering in the wilderness for 20 years.
I agree with this. He didn't have that bad of a game. Receivers have to catch balls that hit them in the hands. If they did this against Austin Peay we are likely having a very different conversation today.
I was most impressed with a play in the first half (can’t remember exactly when) where Vandy was showing blitz from the left side, only to drop that guy and blitz a LB from the right side. He diagnosed it quickly and laid a lick on the blitzer, allowing Milton to comfortably get the pass off...
