Early in my tech career--like decades ago--part of my responsibilities was to answer support calls from a product we developed for Canada. Let me just tell you, Canadian women by and large went crazy for a southern drawl.
Man, when I go visit my old stomping grounds in low-land GA, it's crazy (to think that that was my accent once), but actually quite beautiful speech. They say I talk like a yankee now. When I get home, my wife is amazed that I so easily fall back into the accent for a while.
When we were dating, my (now) wife and I had trouble understanding each other. I talked about a friend named 'Ben', and she'd never heard the name. Thought it was odd as h***, which I thought was odd as h***. Until she figured out that I was pronouncing "Behn" as "Been/Bin".
Dang she was weird...
Who else is enjoying the open championship?
Odd boring story: For some reason, I thought the Irish guy who describes the action is royalty, but it turns out he's just a common tater.
