Very disappointing season so far. The poor defense and pitching decisions are on CDS. He has a very good history in SoCal, but he does not seem a good SEC fit. Andy Lopez had similar problems.

To soon to come to a decision about CDS' future. Glaring items of concern to me are fielding and pitching depth. On the positive side is the development of Marks. An NCAA bid this year will cement a return for CDS. Another play-in game to the SEC tourney, or worse, should lead to consideration...

On the plus side, great starts so far from Marks, Owenby and Serrano. On the negative, where is the offense? Like AJ in the 2 hole. IMO Cox may have been overused last year and his arm is not the same. Bullpen needs to step up. Season just starting.

This looks to be a down year for UCI. Anything less than 2 out of 3 will be disappointing. Gillespie is a fun coach to watch, especially when he is scratching for runs. CDS knows his tricks well.

Agree. While his slugging is remarkably poor, he gets the bat on the ball and has speed. SBs have to improve, he was down 50% last year.

My thoughts as a supporter: NCAA regional or look for a new coach. Not too much to expect.

Positive side - Marks and Owenby very sharp. Concerns - Pitchers walked too many and our hitters seemed behind. Weather looks awful this week and CDS may not get chance to beat up on lesser comp like he did last year to pad record.

Errors and bp walks, freshman ph in 9th w/ bases loaded, yea i look to the hc. But i also give him credit for making the call to go with Marks in the opener.

Rough way to start season. 5 errors (2 by pitchers) and a pen that puts on 8 of 18 batters faced are problems a coach must be held accountable for. C'mon CDS! Great start for Marks though! Encouraging.

CDS is a top coach, no doubt (especially good with pitchers over the years). But he is not infallible. I question his pitching choices this year. They seemed desparate to me. I do not blame him that, one of our top hitters, AJ, has a confounding 1 XBH in 187 AB's. But i saw no change in AJ's...

CDS has "played like there was no tomorrow" all season. The use/overuse of his weekend pitchers on midweek games, and repeatedly on back-to-back days on the weekend, could only have been to rack up wins and save his job by making the record look better than the team actually is. (At the cost of...

Agree. Vols not quite at the level of top SEC teams, but are much improved and able to stay with, but likely not beat, top teams in SEC. I had the feeling, now confirmed, CDS coached early part of season to win all games at all costs to rack up W's becaues he knew it was going to be tuff to win...
