Iām not close enough to know the dynamics in the winter. Shoot, I was in Canada for last 8 months, but the best coaches know this stuff I believe. Maybe Iām wrong.
Itās all good. Itās apparent that coach CJH felt the relationship with Nico was in good place in winter portal, I also think they had their hands full with current players negotiating. I know people stepped up for this qb search, but couldnāt convince anyone to jump.
I keep hearing this, but why didnāt coaches assess the situation better in January? Nico had a foot out door then. Would have been much easier to talk a guy into leaving before spring.
Now if CJH can pull off a 10 win season with all of this, he will be bulletproof for another 5 years. Itās a high risk high reward game though right now.
Some will say itās CJH job to read the room, and he is to blame for not knowing. Iām not in those meetings, but if CJH was caught that much by surprise, thatās also a problem.
Lots of second guessing. Why didnāt coaches assess Nico risk in January? Why not engage qbs in winter portal. Thatās the frustration. I donāt disagree that it was going to be hard this late to count on a kid flipping on his team.
I donāt disagree with your logic. The type of people that have the drive to be large boosters though, have huge egos, and long memories. Ask auburn though what happens when you lose your boosters backing as a coach. Or Kentucky when you donāt have any. I hope it works out, and I will be rooting...
I guess we decided that Altmyer was never going to pull trigger. At some point you canāt talk anymore I guess. I know we presented him with an offer that would have paid him 3x what heās getting at Illinois. Thought heād make the jump, I think everyone thought it was enough to get him to make...
Boosters will be pissed if we take the UCLA kid. Itās the optics. That we got UCLA leftovers. If we go that route, and it doesnāt go well. Heupel will have burnt some important bridges with money guys. I hope it works out.
