    ESPN Anti-Vol Hype?

About the time PF catches up in their head-to-head meetings, SS will be off to yet another team anyway. Thus the reason ESPN only compares him to Fulmer anyway.

    ESPN Anti-Vol Hype?

Ok, we're way off topic here, so I'll concede that CW had a good year and was a worthy Heisman winner. It's not like Peyton Manning is the only player to be 2nd in the balloting that could have won it without anyone questioning the decision. Nice posts...I enjoyed them.

He did. Eddie George happened to be one of them, pointing out succinctly that Peyton Manning couldn't win the big one against Florida and that game cost him the Heisman. I was just wondering how many 0 TD, 0 Int games that CW had that year?

Nah...he and I have already agreed that we took the Woodson Heisman pill and then washed it down with a 13-0 season the following year. No worries...

    ESPN Anti-Vol Hype?

I never said they 'hated' us. As I said in an earlier post that followed my original...ESPN announcers are paid to maintain the large audience they have at kickoff, so they hype the underdog a bit. That's all I'm saying...but it gets stale in the midst of a close game. It becomes sort of "I...

I'm over it...that pill was washed down by a healthy 13-0 glass of Orange Juice the following year...

No can do, UTChatt...No way Charles Woodson was the best player in America that year. Peyton had A bad game...Woodson had A good game against Ohio State. Sorry...but I'm sticking to that one.

I think the bottom line, sports fans, is that ESPN makes an effort to "balance" the chances of the underdog team by hyping up the coach, crowd, environment, food, beer, mascot, cheerleaders...I don't really blame them, but it does get annoying in the middle of a close game.

    ESPN Anti-Vol Hype?

The only reason they show Spurrier's record against Fulmer is because he's the only guy still around to show it against! The other SEC coaches are gone from that era. Now...they're starting to show Urban Meyer's 'dominance'! lol

They show Tennessee because they're a big audience program -- not because they like them. Remember how they over-hyped Charles Woodson in 1997 for the Heisman in the last 4 weeks of the season? They pretty much won the award for the guy.

I don't know about firing him; it just seems to me that ESPN (although they televise UT often and make big $) consistently plays down Tennessee wins and highlights their losses and even "close" wins over SC and AL. I'd personally like to see a color analyst from the South, but Todd Blackledge...

    Jimmy Streater

Sadly, I believe Jimmy Streater died a couple of years ago from complications arising from his battle with Diabetes. I saw his first game as a starter in 1977 vs. Cal -- also Johnny Majors' debut as hfc. What a player he was...UT would have been 2-9 that year had it not been for he, Kelsey...

    ESPN Anti-Vol Hype?

Did anyone besides me take issue with some of the negativity towards UT during Saturday night's broadcast? Mike Patrick seemed bent on highlighting UT's lack of a running game and gave almost no credit to the defense, special teams, and passing game. Every first down runner or receiver seemed to...
