If that’s the justification, we need to be doing better than top 10 to 12 classes and having the lowest ranked portal haul of any Power Conference team.
Hood is still ahead of him on the depth chart. If we are fully healthy, Redmond is unlikely to see the field much during meaningful snaps this year. Which is a good thing, unless you are a Stingley or Surtain type, you probably don’t need to start as a CB as a true freshman.
No there are precisely 3 who have the accomplishments and consistency over time to separate themselves from the rest of the pack in a tier of their own. The 10th best coach shouldn’t be mentioned alongside Kirby Smart. James Franklin shouldn’t be in a tier with Ryan Day. You can be good, very...
Top 7 is not the top tier. Tier 2 and Tier 3 have a lot of really good to great coaches, but you have to reach the pinnacle to be in that top tier.
A lot of people who thought Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt were great also get upset if you say Heupel isn’t on the same tier as Day or Smart. Go figure.
No, we are still required to schedule a Power Conference team.
If we get Alabama, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt, this works out perfectly for Tennessee from a competitive standpoint and for a fan interest standpoint.
You simply can’t put Heupel or anyone else who hasn’t won it all in the top tier. Even some guys who have won it all didn’t belong in the top tier (Orgeron, Coker, Chizik). The top tier is for champions with sustained success.
Eh, a lot of people who haven’t “earned” that have run through it. Butch Jones had a 5’5” son who played on the team as a backup holder and ran through it a lot. I don’t think he earned it.
