The hate for Banks makes some of our fans delusional. Banks is a Broyles Finalist and recognized as 1 of the top 5 coordinators in the country. Banks, just like Golesh, was selected and nominated from thousands of other assistant coaches. A committee of their coaching peers, sports...
I doubt Banks had to float his name around and manufacture interest. He's recognized as an elite DC by his peers and the sports community. He's a Broyles Finalist and the only DC at Tennessee to ever get make it to the finals. Golesh was only the second OC in school history.
Banks has had really good dlines everywhere he's been as DC. Coach Garner has seen his best statistically good dline at TN, so I'd say Garner has had success because of Banks.
It has nothing to do with being appreciated. It's about the lack of integrity and professionalism within our athletic department and administration. Head coaches and coordinators in college sports who are doing their jobs, even at average level, should not be coaching on an expired contract...
I think Garner gets more recognition because he's a part of Banks defensive system. Garner has had his best dline (statistically) at TN.
Banks was nominated for Broyles in 2011. Garner wasn't on staff, so I dont think he needs Garner to help him get recognized. The defense is elite at every...
You should do a little homework and see stats for Banks dline when he was coordinator for past 10 years and stats for coach garner as dline coach for past 10 years. Coach Garner has his best stats under coach Banks. Coach Banks always has a good dline regardless of his dline coach.
First, Auburn wasn't in top 25 in total d at all, just scoring d a few times. Second, the stats support what I said. Coach G's most productive DL's have been at Tennessee. I said he's done a great job here but at Auburn, his D lines weren't very product. Statistically for the most part, they...
Prove me wrong. Nothing I said was an opinion and I'm not gonna bash Coach G because he's done a great job here and that's all that really matters to me.
He's developed some great players, but as a whole, his DL's, statistically, weren't good at Auburn. Georgia was better. I just think he needs an aggressive system and that's where his players will shine.
I agree with you and we might be saying the same thing. His DL at Auburn wasn't good, that's not an opinion. It doesn't matter now, because he's done well here.
My only point was, we run an aggressive style of defense and it relies heavily on DL, so coach Garner fits well cause he develops...
The style of defense we run has a lot to do with the production at DL, so im not sure we will get in any bidding wars. At least 10-15 years prior to Tennessee, Coach Garners DL's weren't good, but he does well in our system.
Have you by chance looked at the production of Coach Garners DL for the previous 10 years prior to Tennessee? He put a few kids in the league but his overall DL unit was below average at best. His best production, has been here at Tennessee because of the aggressive style of defense we have to...
Hadden is the 3rd DB drafted in Heupel’s 3 years.
Some of y'all better start giving Coach Martinez some credit for developing his players. Nobody would have ever expected Hadden or Jackson to get drafted.
For context, we've only had 1 DL drafted in 3 years.
