You lost me here. Last year our offense put up the second most rushing yards in school HISTORY. And that's against a lot of really good rushing D's.
Soooo, your thought is to "abandon the run early, because they'll be expecting it"?
Why not just run it down their throats, because they...
Development. Think about it this way- I will give you one month to learn to juggle, then compete in the World Juggling Championship. Think you'll do well?
Now, after your first attempt you have a full year to do nothing but study, practice, live & breathe juggling. Think you'd do better...
My prediction is that CBJ chooses the QB who knows the offense best to be the backup. He will play it safe and pick the guy most capable of executing plays. Since QD has been running tennessees offense for a year now, his dad is a coach, and he's here in the spring, I bet it'll be him.
Next...
I'm getting excited about DeBord seeing how many folks on Volnation are unhappy with the hire. He is solid yet unexciting. The same guys who hate this hire were probably calling for Randy Sanders' head and applauding Clawson and Sunseri. Solid isn't a bad thing. Hopefully our offense...
If Debord is hired to give Coach Z time to grow into the position I'll be ok with it. Especially if he turns out to be a good play caller in CBJ's system.
If he does the bandwagon fans will be lovin on Debord.
Our O-Line.....they are not good at the football. There's your reason for the playcall. Get the ball to one of our fastest and most explosive players in space, then let him make a play - which he did.
Did you read the article? It looks like Butch was asked to compare the two programs and his answer was classic coach speak.
I understand you are a vocal critic of Butch, but please make fair arguments without twisting and skewing source material.
O Line is a developmental position. Remember the Sullins twins? Hardesty had a 1000 yard season behind two walk ons who were 5th year seniors.
Our O Line will get better with time. Until they do it'll be painful to watch.
You don't play winning football in the SEC without a decent line...
Why did our NFL talent in the offense and line especially stink at running the ball? Experience.
We've got some decent guys on the D. If they had 3 years experience under Sal in the 3-4 right now we'd be a mighty tough team.
I agree Dooley has a detailed long term plan. Hammy said so when he was hired. I think he's been spot on in recruiting needs and building the team. He needs to speed up the culture though. The team CANNOT quit in close games and Dooley keep his job.
I think 7-5 or better gets him another year.
