Joey isn't returning I assume(?)
Would really expect one of the young guns, G-Mac or Faisin-Bran, to step up to the role, but I assume Heupel is happy to take a portal shot, if he isn't convinced.
I'd like to see what Leavitt from ASU could do in this offense if we go the latter route.
Not wholly unreasonable in some cases, but versus THAT inept of an offense, it really shouldn't matter. It would be more palpable if they had given up like 21-28 to a team averaging 14 ppg (break to laugh at Nico 😅🤣) and only scored TEN vs New Mexico 2 weeks prior.
But 42?!? With the same QB...
It's simply a matter of patience.
Fans from every fanbase have been in the comments, "just expect to give up a lot of 40 point games next year...then he'll be fine, eventually".
I mean, if we gave up 42 points to an offense that averaged 16.0 ppg to other opponents in the same season, no one...
OP was talking poor UCLA dropping 42 on his defense.
Between 2024 UT and 2025 UCLA, the 2 teams averaged 17.5 ppg vs winning teams.
He held UT to 17...UCLA to 42. Call it 30 ppg...
I'd agree with this sentiment (Day and Harbaugh...Kirby to a degree, it's hilarious), but this was actually just after they won 😅🤣
They also blame him for blowing it vs UGA 2023...gave up like 40 something
And here I thought you all were discussing Michigan bball. Effing rough for their football program
But hey 1 championship every 25 years...I'd be just fine with it too. I just want to see 1 more at this point lmao 🙏🙏🙏
He had 1 year top 10 at OSUw...year 4. Again, if he's given that long here, think we'll be good.
But that was after #97, #63, #36.
It takes time. The worst of this fanbase were upset at us going from #90, to #36, #22, #7....
His resume and scheme.
It's been mentioned here a dozen times, it takes time. It took him till year 4 to improve below 24 ppg at OSUw and Duke. Penn St Y1 was their worst defense in a decade. OSU only took 2 years, but top talent has that effect.
His scheme and with modern college football -...
At OSU? Well yes, they were recruited, unfortunately he's not a huge part of recruiting (albeit, similar to plenty of DCs).
Hopefully his staff can recruit top classes. Would be great.
Look at who that defense had.
They're currently giving up 8 ppg, without him.
I mean...if he's bringing an all-bluechip roster defense with him, yup that's different 😅
He took a defense at PSU giving up 14.5 ppg the prior 2 seasons and immediately added 50% on top.
Most damning, the...
I'm highly meh.
His OSU defenses were spewing top talent. PSU regularly has top 10 talent and gave up 43 to Nico.
I think he can be pretty good here, but hopefully our staff survives long enough. This isn't Duke or OSUw where he'll get 4-5 years mid-HC era.
