This settlement includes 2 main components: 1) schools paying for play. This includes an initial cap of $20.5 million per school to pay to players at schools option. Most think that majority of that money will go to football & basketball players, but that will be decided by each school.
2) NIL...
I remember as a kid I was at one of early ‘70s games (‘71-‘72?) in Nashville and Vandy fans hit one of Vols’ players with an orange. I think it might have been John Snow or Mike Edwards
I agree. I think if Purdue beats a good Tenn team for 2nd time this year, then they’ve proven they are better team. That being said, I’m not sure they can beat us again.
But, is it? I don’t recall seeing any reports of NIL money given to each player. I think that transparency is being proposed by the dumbass Auburn coach - I mean Senator - from Alabama!
It’s no wonder that Edey has been so dominant if Refs in other Purdue games call it like they did in Tenn game. He camped in lane practically their entire offensive sets. He never hardly made an attempt to move out of lane. I can’t blame him as ref never called 3 seconds. The 3 second rule is...
Totally agree. I know Barnes got a tech for complaining about a missed call on Edey for push against ZZ. He should’ve and probably was complaining about the big guy camping in lane. That’s what the 3 second violation is for - to keep an big guy from having huge advantage
I’m not concerned 6 games in and getting beat away by #1 and #2 team in nation. We have 2 new impact players who have looked good and we’ve got 2 players that have slowly worked back into lineup after being hurt (ZZ) or have been away from team (Santi) due to family issues. After last couple...
Totally agree. Also, need a QB with some competitive fight in him. Milton has had a respectable season, but Hooker was a competitor that wouldn’t back down.
I think NCAA rules committee will need to re-evaluate rule on substitution this off-season. Our fast-paced offense has taken advantage of the defense’s inability to make substitutions if offense doesn’t make substitutions. However, the problem is when offense does sub and ref stands over ball...
This rule change was probably a result of UT’s game against NC in 2010 Music city bowl. I was at that game and UNC ended up getting a 2nd chance to tie game at end of regulation after committing penalty. Today, game would have ended due to clock runoff. NC ending up winning in OT.
I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this in separate thread, but why didn’t the ref near the catch not throw his flag for PI? I was thinking he was waiting to see if White made the catch, but I believe they’re taught to call penalty and sort it out afterwards. So, leads me to believe he didn’t...
Vols beat Cornbread Maxwell in 1976/77 if I have my year right. I was student at UT and we barely beat them and fans were a little upset as we had good team (Ernie/Bernie/etc). However, UNCC went to final four that year and probably should’ve be in final game. I believe coach was Ray Mears. UNCC...
