I mean WTF, she couldn't win at NC State and got demoted. Wes Moore won at Chattanooga AND NC State. Why not go after Wes Moore?! It helps the legacy of Tennessee to hire a good coach NOT to try to hold on to the past. I will be so pissed off if we don't get a coach MINIMUM as good as Wes Moore.
I raised the red flag a year ago pointing out our abysmal performance in the SEC when Holly completely took over compared to Pat. It's so bad I barely watch and do not expect us to win against ranked teams anymore.
I'm not falling for any more fools gold this year. Holly is still the coach. We lost more experience than we are keeping. When you are looking to Freshman to lead the team, you've already lost. I'd be surprised if they stay in the top 25.
I mentioned it in another thread but the SEC has not performed well. Two teams (LSU and Missouri) were eliminated the first game to teams they were ranked better than. Two more teams, Tennessee and Georgia, lost to teams they were supposed to beat on paper in the second round. South Carolina is...
If we could get the best coach possible, that would be ideal, but I think many people like myself would settle for just ANYONE else as the head coach at this point.
We can't get better until we get a new coach.
Let me preface this by saying I don't want Mulkey. She had 3 years with BOTH Brittney Griner and Odyssey Sims AND 2 more years with JUST Brittney Griner and JUST Odyssey Sims and in that 5 year span managed ONE National Title. No thanks.
Having said that, the reason a smart coach would leave...
That's probably true. It depends on what they do. If they hire the assistant coach, they are more likely to follow the doomed recipe Tennessee followed.
The formula for hiring a head coach was proven by the men's North Carolina program. They had a legend Dean Smith. He retired. They hired an...
If you can't put together a respectable team with Mercedes Russell and Diamond Deshields, then what do you expect to do when your star center is a JV transfer who barely played on a team bounced in the second round, no true point guard with any college experience, and your best player is now a...
If you think the program is bad now, wait till next year when we lose the only center who played any significant minutes. We will be hurting inside and still struggling at point guard.
Ironically had Jamie and Mercedes chose to stay close to home and play with Oregon State, they'd probably make the Final 4.
For the record I'm glad they didn't but just saying.
In a word, YES. Coaching DOES affect how a team shoots free throws. The coach is in charge of creating a culture that understands free throw shooting is important. The coach is in charge in teaching key techniques important for free throw shooting: MAINLY consistency in the routine, not too much...
The Lady Vols better bring it. Oregon State will NOT lay down. The winner, whoever it is, will earn it. Hopefully Lady Vols get 'er done.
SEC had a bit of a rough 1st round. LSU and Missouri both got upset by weaker seeds and lost. Mississippi State and Tennessee had comfortable wins by the...
