So in essence it would actually make sense if they were forced to turn off the transponder or a hijacker turned it off themselves, so no hijack code could be given? just speaking in hypothetcials.

That was my thoughts on it. Stolen plane. landed somewhere else. demands aren't made yet as to give the culprits time to distance themselves from the area.... (i do read to many adventure/mystery novels.)

Um..intentionally flying low to a location way off of its charted path, with no contact or distress signals given off. Does this sound like a Chuck Norris movie plot to anyone else? serious question btw.

If posted on Facebook Mobile, facebook should be able to tell you where the post was sent from.
