If you truly don't think some 21 year old that got drafted in the 5th round, signed, bounced between high A and AA isn't eventually going to pull a Charles Bediako and try to go to school, then I've got some ocean front property in Blount County to sell you...
I love Joey. I've got a buddy who golfs with him. He seems like a really great dude. I don't like this.
You've got G-Leaguers in CBB, guys playing 6-8 years in CFB...and the inevitable is coming in college baseball. Wait until the high schooler who took the draft money decides he doesn't...
This is so dumb. We need LESS teams, not more. No one wants to see 30 point beatings in the first round. I’d like to see 8 teams in, seeded by rank. Each of the big 4 conferences get their highest ranked team in…next 4 highest ranked get in after that…seeded by final rank. No byes. Both...
I was all for alcohol being sold in the stadium, but I do think it has become a net negative to most fans. The folks sneaking it in were a different breed, for the most part. That was a "gameday enhancer". Their tolerance was much higher.
Now, you deal with a lot of idiots who think you go...
Well, Elander is the guy! But, you’re right…lots of good options out there that I think probably would’ve gotten a better look had the job opened up within the regular “coaching carousel.”
Elander also worked under Schloss and Van Horn. I know he’s considered Tony’s guy, but he’s worked under a trio of proven winners. There’s a pretty long track record of longtime assistants stepping up and having a lot of success. I don’t hate DW’s perceived candidates, but it’s a really...
I get that this was a crazy opportunity for Tony, but I’ve heard enough to form the opinion that DW was fine letting Tony walk. They’ve never gotten along well…it’s always been measuring contest and DW has developed a bad case of LDS.
Game of egos. We had the best coach in the game. We’re not even arguing that point…the best. Tony has a HUGE ego…he’s mentioned that several times. I’ve heard enough from folks around the program (support staff, parents, former players, coaches in and around TV’s circle) to reasonably deduce...
I think baseball is unique in that it’s much more accessible to the common fan. Most of us know at least someone in or around the program. Some of us know several folks that are privy to the inner workings. I’ve heard from enough people…and read enough accounts of what went down…to...
To me, that PC was alarming. DW showed near Butch Jones-level ineptitude of managing the moment. It was bad. Maybe it was just the first misstep…no one is perfect. Im sure he didn’t plan on being in this position…but it concerns me that he handled that so poorly, and more so because of HOW...
Still redneck-pissed about that press conference. Maybe DW just threw up his first airball…or maybe he is an egotistical asshat that ruined a great thing. Even is there’s nothing that could’ve stopped Tony V from taking that job, you don’t make that presser about anything other than flowers...
I agree with you on the Tony points. However, my issue with DW is the arrogance and lack of perception in that presser. He came off butthurt, talking about owed apologies and honestly it was disrespectful to Tony and what he’s built. That presser should’ve been 90% flowers for Tony, his staff...
