Your Memphis Grizzlies Basketball Thread III

Grizz are slowly getting more attention here - at least come playoff time over the last couple years. Media coverage tends to be nonexistent until the playoffs approach. Then Nashville decides that it's going to (for once) act like it likes Memphis. Come June, Nashville will once again start...

    I've been to Berkeley

I've been to Berkeley as well. My initials are carved on a table at the Bear's Lair to prove it.

    Who is really to blame...

No one is to "blame", and it's very possible that this works out best for both sides involved. As has been said well previously, Hart and Martin likely had differing opinions on Martin's value to this program. Martin's choices at that point were (1) stay despite not getting the contract he...

    The Petitioners were right

No, those who signed the petition weren't right. It was flat out disrespectful. While I believe Martin likely wasn't the answer long-term, he was not an abject failure. His record was within the ballpark of what was expected, and he did not commit violations that would have put the school on...

I was on the Pearl Bandwagon...

This isn't really that difficult, and it never has been. There has been a small group of rational people around here who have consistently said that fans should wait the season out before forming an opinion on whether Martin is the right coach. That still holds true - the season isn't over...

If you don't watch anymore (like you said), how do you know what the product on the court looks like?

The officials are calling the game much differently in the second half - much tighter.

    Early Signing Period

From the kid's perspective, what is the benefit of signing early? The only benefit that I can think of is to stop the barrage of calls/letters/texts/emails/facebook messages/etc once he's made his decision. If that's the case, why doesn't the NCAA give recruits the option to opt out of contact...

    The Memphis Grizzlies Thread

I could see some merit in modestly increasing the size of the court, as the paint area can get a bit crowded with multiple 7 footers in there. I think any benefits would be offset by logistical challenges as teams may have to reconfigure arenas. The lower bowls are generally set, and therefore...

    The Memphis Grizzlies Thread

Too bad that the uniform reboot is off the table - I would have loved to see the Grizz add gold to the equation, although I would prefer navy to black. After all, it doesn't get much better than blue and gold.

    The Memphis Grizzlies Thread

By no means is it time to write this team off. They're just now getting healthy and shaking the rust off. There are still 27 games left - plenty of time to make up a two game deficit to PHX or possibly four games to DAL/GS. They've dug themselves a hole, but it's certainly not insurmountable...

    Galen Campbell's Grandma

If the contract provided for it, I would have broken it on the spot if I were you. For one thing, the state of Tennessee requires that an employee receive a 30 minute meal or rest period for every 6 consecutive hours worked. More broadly, I don't like to treat people like crap.

Even if we miss the NCAA

What have you seen (or not seen) from Hart to make you think he doesn't care enough? Seems like a fairly disrespectful position to take, particularly given the generally positive early returns on Jones and Serrano.
