How about Dewayne Dotson from Hendersonville. He was a fullback at UT and never played worth mentioning. Then transferred to Ole Miss and was an All-SEC and All-American LB. Ended up in the NFL.
Another is Steve Mathews the QB from Tullahoma who never made it past third or fourth on the...
I was talking about the third Collins brother, he signed with UT. Todd signed with UGA in 1986 and Brent with UGA in 1988. The third brother was a DE who signed with UT in the mid 1990's.
Todd Collins was a football disappoint in general. I would have loved to see both him and Brent healthy and in orange. What was the youngest Collins' brothers name, the one who actually signed with us out of HS but never played. I've seen a few dozen NFL players when they were in HS...
I like Munoz, most kids would have hung it up with the number of serious injuries he's had, what amazes me is that after all the injuries/surgeries he's still a great player and starter. It's got to be hard to live up to the hype of being the son of such a famous HOF player.
Being a former D-B player I was suprised we signed Teddy, not that great of a cover guy but at least he tried, we've had alot of guys with super talent who could have been All-Americans if they had been as dedicated as Teddy, he actually ended up playing in NFL Europe and making the all...
A few I can think of:
Antonio "Brick" Robinson from Memphis, he was supposed to be the best thing out of Memphis since BBQ and only played in a few games in 1993 as a backup. Touted as the best DE out of Tennessee since Reggie White.
Sterling Hinton and Moses Collins come to mind, both were...
NFL Players who went to high school in Knox County (33 I'm aware of)
Name High School College Years in NFL
Bailey, Howard Knox High UT 1935
Bates, Bill Farragut UT...
Quite funny....BAMA fans are the victims now!!! Remember all the arrogant BAMA fans in the plaid jackets with the roll of toilet paper and Tide box on a stick that used to come to Tennessee games in the 1970's and 1980's and spit racial slurs and insults to anyone who looked...
That's basically why Georgia Tech left the SEC and then finally decided to join the ACC. Couldn't compete in SEC anymore due to tough academic standards and thought ACC would be a good fit with Duke and Wake Forest having similar programs. Now the ACC is beginning to look more like the...
