I made no connection between BC's recent record and Rettig's commitment. I said that I think he chose BC because he cares about more than just football.
This is a thread about Rettig, isn't it? What does it matter how badly UT might beat BC this or any other year? My guess is Rettig picked BC because he's interested in more than just football.

BC has won at least 9 games each of the past 5 seasons. I'm sure UT will continue to go after Rettig but maybe when he looked closer he noticed that that sexy girl is cross-eyed.
It's way too early to be pessimistic about landing a good QB. If BC can rebound from the decommitment of a 4-star QB there's no reason UT can't pick up a really good player even if Scroggins chooses USC.

Considering the talent pool at each school I'd say BC is at least as good at coaching its players up to NFL caliber. When was the last time BC had a recruiting class rated higher than UT's?
