If he was willing to be an OC, then absolutely. He would be incredible at QB coaching and adding wrinkles into the veer n shoot.
I just doubt he wants to be anything other than a HC anymore.
It honestly says a lot about CJH that he came in here and raised expectations by year 2.
It is crazy how fast fans forget just how bad we were and for how long.
Yeah if he was going to transfer somewhere that he might not end up starting, I think he’d just eat the 7 games and stay at BYU.
Much more likely he already knows where and they just have to dot i’s and cross t’s. Though I hope it’s not the Cuse, even if he’s short on prep time the kid is a...
I’m not saying you can’t hold reporters accountable, I’m saying acting like a child because a reporter didn’t get 100% (which no one does) on their preseason predictions doesn’t suddenly invalidate their opinions.
And I’m not saying others don’t have questions but we can’t even pretend like...
I’m neither here nor there on Phil Steele as a reporter, but if you want to know why sports journalism has been nose diving in quality it’s because they have to cater to oversensitive fans that get vocally upset every time they don’t predict a top 3 finish for a team.
Also trying to grade a...
He’s right about us having a ton of question marks. We start 4 new OL, a QB who got here last month, an almost entirely new WR corps, and we lost our de facto best player on offense last year at RB. Add in the amount of SRs lost on the DL, McCoy’s injury, and our inconsistencies at LB and the...
Telander and Smith both got more action after we lost Pili and had Herring transfer out after playing a lot. It’s not like we had a ton of guys with experience in that room after that to choose from, but I’m glad they got the opportunity and I think have gotten better because of it.
As far as...
I’m not saying they get absolutely zero snaps, I’m saying it’s not common for a true freshman to play a significant role under this staff. RB is one position that is an exception, but partially because we’ve had super thin RB rooms and tend to run 3 guys a game.
Boo and probably David Sanders...
Especially with a staff that seems so hesitant to rely too much on many true freshmen.
Besides Boo and guys playing due to injuries, CJH and staff haven’t really played too many guys their first year here.
Has good balance to compliment his speed and doesn’t seem to go down super easily on initial contact despite his size.
The quick screens we run are so much more effective if our WRs can actually make their guy miss.
Is it a little cringey? Sure. Is that a crime? Nah.
In the circus that is throwing $500k at 17 year olds that have never played a down, this is a nothing burger.
They honestly don’t look nearly as weird as that UF recruit’s dad did a little while back.
Where did I say it does anything for us? It’s also just no where near as big of a deal as you make it seem. You’re gonna miss out on guys that’s the nature of recruiting and it always has been.
Acting like a 3* OL, that grew up a fan of our rival, is some irreplaceable target is either...
