I don't think you'll have to wait until he's gone to witness the crash. Pavia's mouth has written checks that his azz can't cash. Every DC in the conference will have a plan to neutralize him. He likely won't make it through the season and Vandy will tank.
Agreed. Also, many were anticipating a big jump for Nico in year 2 as the starter. I don't think that was going to happen. If Nico stayed, we would have eventually been in year 4 still waiting for the light switch to come on for him.
I think it's a significant issue. It's one thing to lose to Georgia and Alabama on the road, it's quite another to crap the bed against the likes of Arkansas, Missouri, etc.
I'm of the opinion that we dodged a bullet with Nico. I believe he was JG 2.0 in the making, and he would have been a 5th year senior with us waiting for things to finally click. I'm glad the band aid got ripped off now instead of seeing more of the same for the next few seasons.
I'm fine with bringing in Aguilar as long as he's not handed QB1 without an open competition for the spot. If he wins the job, then so be it. However, I'm not convinced that he's any better than what we have.
Nico's camp used the timing to maximize their leverage and legitimately thought that Tennessee would pony up. Instead, it ended up being a hard lesson on the topic of FAFO.
I'm probably in the minority here but, if we can't roll with one of the two 4 QB's we already have on the roster, then we likely have a QB coaching deficiency.
Ideally, we would want Merk to develop and claim the starting job. Moore's value is having knowledge of our offensive scheme. We could bring in a highly rated portal guy, but how much of the offense is he going to be able to grasp with only fall camp to work with?
