Martin gets his first NCAA tourney win

Don't be jealous that my wrists aren't bleeding like yours.

I don't think you understand my position here. I'm not rooting against the team. I don't think anyone is. While this win was important, it shouldn't be looked at as a landmark achievement. It was a win to earn a seeding against a team we should have beaten. Good job getting the win. Now let's move on.

It was a great win. It was not a milestone achievement. If it is considered a milestone, then our basketball program is doomed.

I'm not going to sit here and act like our own coach's first NCAA berth and win are no big f***ing deal. If you want to act that way and get blood all over your keyboard, I don't recommend spending your time on a damn Tennessee Volunteers message board.

I don't think YOU understand your own position or the significance of the NCAA tourney for a college coach.

Then bring out the streamers and floats. Let's have a parade. Good grief, people. Doesn't take much to impress these days.

You act as though someone is actually doing that! I think a congratulatory thread is sufficient recognition. How is me or any other member of VN congratulating him equate to having a parade? No one is acting like we won the national championship. No one. It's 100% reasonable to be excited about the win and recognize Martin's personal achievement.

Seems like the celebration doesn't match the accomplishment imo. On mobile, so I can't multi quote, but there were plenty of ridiculous celebratory posts and rubbing the win in faces of the strawmen accused of rooting against the team.

Those people who said they're actively cheering against us in hopes that it warrants firing Martin made their own bed. Speaking of straw men, who is throwing parades? Who's acting like it's anything more than Martin's first NCAA win? If you want to point out straw men, take a look at your own posts first.

So the tournament shrunk by what 6 percent? So its worth roughly 12 or 13 percent of a legitimate tourney win?

You must be a very sad and hopeless individual based on all the negativity that you spew. Go Vols!

My posts were facetiously referring to parades. My stance is that the celebration and jubilation over a play in game are over the top. This game was a big deal to Martin, but it should be standard procedure for our basketball team with their talent.

What celebration and jubilation are you referring to? Is saying congrats on your first NCAA tourney win over the top? Facetious or not, you are the one setting your straw men in a row.

You're really not making any sense. There were actual people saying they were rooting for the team to lose so Martin would get fired. There was no one going far beyond regular celebration of a big win like you're suggesting. Your post is the definition of a straw man.

The tone of this thread seems more jubilant than just congratulatory. I guess that's my perception. But, congrats to Zo.

Winning a play in game is not a big deal. It was a play in game end of story. If he wins Friday it won't be a milestone achievement either more like a pleasant surprise. If you think other wise you evidently didn't watch ut basketball when Bruce pearl or Jerry Green were coaching. If they get to the sweet 16 then it's a big deal.

Its awesome to see Counzo get his first tournament win! If we can get by UMass to the Duke gm I think we have a good shot at beating Duke because we match up real good with them. Maymon and Stokes will be a handful to their bigs. Duke has struggled all yr against teams with good post games. GO VOLS!
