Auburn hires Bruce Pearl

Prior to this news, I guarantee you the majority of the fanbase roots for a loss tomorrow if it meant Cuonzo getting canned.

Would you have rather Dooley beat Mizzou his final year and kept his job. Or are you glad Dooley lost, got canned, and we got Butch? We just got Dooley'd my man. Program set back another 3 years - check.

That's still much different than saying you'll root for another team because they got the coach you wanted.

Martin can still be replaced with a quality coach if he's gone. It's beyond stupid to be attached to one coach like that.

Wonder who BP puts on his staff? A lot of his old staff hasn't been recruiting except Forbes who is at WSU....the rest of them have been out of recruiting for years and takes time to build those relationships

You might be the 2nd smartest person on this site. Me being the 1st, of course. : )

Plus he screwed them all pretty bad last time.

He lied about it, told everyone in attendance to lie about it, even asked the recruits father to lie about it. It doesn't get much shadier and shameful than that. Besides, there were additional violations discovered which led to his getting deservedly whacked.

Oh come on. In reality, the kid that got him in trouble didn't even come to UT. I've never seen what the the big deal was since just about every coach in the ncaa has lied about something. Take the Miami situation. Frank Haith was suspended like 5 games for lying about covering up giving MIAMI players illegal benefits. Bruce lied about having a kid (who didn't even come here) over to a BBQ, and got a 3 year show clause that basically made it impossible to hire him.

Be interesting to see the reaction if Martin owns him a couple of seasons.
Doubt you see the instant 6 again at Assburn.

I'll give you that, but Bruce was our best chance at assured success. It was a home run, and I'm afraid we didn't even bring a bat up to the plate - or he would have waited to give a decision to Auburn until tomorrow night.

Glad to see he got another chance to coach. Still doesn't erase his stupidity and lapse in judgement.

It will take longer to build his program at Auburn. But he's won everywhere he has coached. Stands to reason he will win at Auburn, too. If he didn't return to Tennessee, I was really hoping he would wind up coaching away from the SEC.

I agree I was hoping he wouldn't land back in the sec

I've never seen proof that Pearl asked the Craft family to lie. Surely Pearl understood that the Craft family was complicit in some way in turning over the photo.

Are people really trying to say Loft on, a top 150 player who was a Freshman AA who led the SEC and almost the nation in threes was an unknown? Him and Watson who has been in the NBA about ten years were already all SEC players. Lofton was putting up numbers and accolades under Buzz.

Good. Now BBB will disappear.

No... Conzo is here for another year, unfortunately that's the way it's going to be and we knew Pearl was going to get hired... the good news is it wasnt by a great program.. Auburn is the Pearl place holder for Tennessee.

The BBB movement is still very much alive. :hi:

It's quite obvious now Pearl was never going to be an option here. I have to believe if he was, Pearl wouldn't have accepted the Auburn job today.

That is of course, the other talk that went around was true, that Pearl really did NOT want to come back here.

a·bun·dant
əˈbəndənt/Submit
adjective
1.
existing or available in large quantities; plentiful.

That's not "abundant" cheating. If anyone is guilty of that, it's Calipari, and yet he's happily (well, maybe not so much now) coaching at Kentucky.

1. Abundant. Present in great quantity.

In other words, dorks, he cheated a lot. He cheated in great quantity.

That's because conference titles in basketball are stupid as hell.

If your biggest complaint about him is that he lost in the first round twice in six years, you don't have much of a leg to stand on.

You could see the disaster that was about to unfold against Michigan. We all knew that pearl was coaching his final game. What a disaster that season was. Pearl-----tony-------back to pearl. Felt sorry for the players
