Petition to rehire Bruce Pearl

Some of us bandwagon fans as you call us were watching and listening to games when you were still pooping yellow. And we are tired of mediocrity.

Yet despite your age you post with the maturity of a five year old. We're winning. Please save the bitterness for the kids that dare come into your yard.

If you think his Elite 8 team was better than his 30 win SEC Champion team, you're crazy.

The point is they were both HIS teams. He is a better coach than ccm, loves TN, and is available in august. I do not understand how there is even a debate. Ccm is not the coach to improve this team, and only an idiot would think that he is a better option than pearl.

I'm going to keep hoping for Bruce's return...because when he was coach, everyone was excited and invested in our Vols program...probably even the ardent posting detractors desperately trying to convince fellow fans that ALL IS WELL...ALL...IS...EFFING WELL!!!...if Cuonzo leads his team to the tourney...and represents well...I'll keep supporting as I've done all along...with lowered vigor and expectations...knowing that it would be better with Bruce...provemewrong :salute:

Apparently, we have different ideas on idiocy. Idiotic to me would be firing a coach after he makes the NCAA tournament and replacing him with a coach that was forced out of the game for three years based on what he might hypothetically still be able to do though there is no factual evidence to support the claims that he is still the coach he was. Three years have passed. He has new baggage. Everyone believing he can step right back in to where he was is fooling themselves. Time changes all things. I would expect the older crowd to be extremely aware of that.

Or hypothetically thinking said coach can make the tourney. There is no factual evidence that ccm can make the tourney, nor win a single game if he does.

Of the many responses I would love to make to this post, I realize they would be quickly deleted, especially after Freak's recent blanket warning.

I wonder though, what kind of sanctions would UT still be under if Pearl was still coach here. Technically, he could have been retained, but the NCAA would then have enforced strict penalties upon the program, so would we be better off? Not definitive proof, but proof nonetheless, that you're wrong.

No it's not the point, though you're really proving you weren't even paying attention to the freakin' conversation and of course made it into a Martin/Pearl thing, which it never was.

Someone criticized Mears for not winning the national championship with Ernie and Bernie, and I pointed out Pearl's best team underachieved in the NCAAT.

You don't understand why it's a debate because you have no freakin' clue what was even being debated.

And who has said that lol

So if we make the tourney, you'll admit you're an idiot?

No, making the tourney does not make me an idiot. What I find funny is the argument that if we make the tourney he should be retained, however we shouldn't hire a coach that took us to the tourney every year. The question was what seed, not if we would make it.

It seems that I've angered you ...why?...when we want the same thing...the best basketball program possible...I believe we had that and promise for even more under Bruce...and that we will always struggle and be mundane under Cuonzo. You point to the NCAA infractions galore (that never happened...everything was minor) and imminent probation (they were minor). Your rage at my opinion is so impalpable that you considered risking an infraction of your own. To insult me personally...and with malice :aggressive: I'll pray for your anger issues...as if you were a friend...I hope you believe in the Lord...for that tingling feeling won't be from your regular girl.

Stepping back in is what people do that know what they are doing. It's like people asking me how I knew that in my profession and I always reply " How do you know your mother is your mother? Because you know what she looks like." Same thing.

LOL, good response, but you didn't anger me, I just find it hard to pass up making smart ass comments to posts I disagree with.

Why were our infractions minor? Simple, because we fired the source. If you honestly believe we wouldn't have faced much stiffer punishment had we tried to retain Pearl, you are fooling yourself, and I think you know it.

What we had when Pearl was here was special. There is no guarantee that magic can be recaptured, and history would suggest it cannot. What we have is a coach that hasn't looked great at times this year, but has shined in the closing stretch. Now he's on the verge of making the tourney and people still want to talk about what was and not what is. Time has marched on.

Suddenly I'm feeling al tingly.....

This ^^^^^^^

If we'd kept Pearl we'd have been ineligible for post season play..... oh wait.

Is that an opinion or an absolute?

I've never really visited boards for other college teams. Are fans on other boards as hateful toward each other as us or are we unique? Are most of you guys grads or just fans? Just curious.
