Ukraine Protests

Adderol can help that

Actually, I could probably use some of that. Never been diagnosed, but my attention span is limited, to say the least.

And you still didn't answer my previous question. Not that it's a big deal. I'm not trying to be confrontational. I just genuinely want to know why you think I wouldn't know something about a film from 1980 or so.

Perhaps we can stick our heads in the sand and ignore the realities of the world. Because reality is this is still a diplomatic path that happens each and ever day. Difference is this time is it happens to be a nation with a significant military presence and is historically a world power.

So let's stick our head in the sand and revoke our defense treaties around the world. Let's allow Russia to bully Europe into capitulation. Let's allow North Korea to go after the South. Let's allow China to start taking islands in the South China Sea and bully Japan, Korea(s), the Philippines and SW Asia. We'll sit comfortably over in our little part of the world and let the rest of the world rip themselves apart.

And in the meantime our own economy crumbles because we depend greatly on imports and our own industry has a hard time keeping up because of petty politics at home. So let's keep our wangs in our pants and allow the rest of the world to do as they please.

I hear ya, Grand. And you're technically right. A 19th Century attitude might best be defeated by an equally 19th Century attitude. But at some point someone has to stop all this nonsense. It's this same model that got us into this mess, and it's this same model that keeps perpetuating all this mess.

At some point, someone has to be the bigger nation and just man up instead of being a bunch of war mongering sissies: just demand that this is not the way that nations should deal with one another in the 21st Century. A model of international rational consensus is possible.

Anyhow, don't mistake my argument here for "liberal pantywaistedness." If **** hits the fan due to dumbasses in charge with small penises, you better bet my rear end will be one of the first on the front line, my Kabar, my SW, and my AK in tow.

But, until then, I resent *******s dictating to me and to innocent others that phallic diplomacy is somehow the natural state of affairs. And that things cannot be any different. I call bull****.

And to whomever that asterisk laden post referred to, it wasn't you, Grand. I was referring to the politicians and national policy makers who have gotten us into this mess.

Russia’s Move Into Ukraine Said to Be Born in Shadows

Wherein it discusses how Mr. Putin, who is being heralded by conservatives as the world's greatest leader, is basically winging his foreign policy and has no grand strategy.

Seriously?

How can you even post up something like this knowing full well the "foreign policy" of this current administration has been to limp from one disaster to the next in the most obvious amateur fashion with little to no idea on what to do?

A bunch of my friends eat/snort their adderall religiously. That's not really my thing but I'll do it on those nights where you're about to pass out but everyone is still awake and you need something to bring you back to life. I admit they work wonderfully for that.

But you miss the overwhelming point of that thread. It's not that you should be tired of your so called "phallic diplomacy" it's the fact people live in a dream world and argue that we shouldn't use it. I used to have a saying in my own negotiations, be nice until you don't have to be. I'm willing to take the moral high road and resolve things through talk initially. But when push comes to shove, I'll show I've got the bigger wang and start leaving mushroom prints so that everyone knows that's in my arsenal if I have no problems whipping it out if, and when, appropriate.

Which brings me back to the overwhelming point I've tried to make in this thread. Our own lack of this, of trying to be nice and give in at every step to the Russians and all our foreign policy failures, has basically told the entire world it's not an option. And before someone brings up Libya...get real, we provided the bulk of the forces, but were in a European planned and led attack. Operation Odyssey Dawn was basically the US following a hard line French response. Very sad. But before I get too far off the point.

Our own administration has shown an unwillingness to forge ahead with this as the potential diplomatic arsenal because they believed like you. I'd almost liken it to the kid that gives the school bully his lunch money in advance without him ever asking. And when the bully starts picking on someone else, we start passing notes in class with a checkbox list of "do you like Putin, check yes or no" instead of directly confronting him. And when we try to confront him, he laughs it off and continues to shake down the student for their money.

We can have nice "21st Century" diplomacy all day long, but when your leaders have shown they are not taken serious on a world stage, that should be like a glowing neon sign that your foreign policy is a joke and is not taken seriously because they believe, perhaps with good reason, that you lack the conviction to back up your 21st Century diplomacy with a good old fashioned 19th Century beat down if needed.

Just rumor monitoring but there seems to be an unusual increase in Ukrainian military activity.
