Dickey said the reason Green was gone was that he had taken us a far as he was able to go after starting the season at 16-1 and a bad finish.

It's also well known that Green had zero friends behind the scenes, seemingly hated being at UT, had alienated himself from the fanbase by his "K-Mart comments", and had publicly dared the admin to fire him weeks earlier.

Of course Dickey isn't going to come out and say "We fired him because he is a jackass". And I repeat, if he cared about performance so much, Dickey would have never replaced Green with a coach like Peterson.

How costly is it to keep him with extension verses letting him go at the end of the season. That is the question that needs to be studied.

A lot of factors but it all boils down to the bottom line dollar and cents solution combined with the risk factor of the next hire vs Martin....costly event either way. Letting Martin go if we make the tournament, Hart better have a bird in hand because I agree with you on that note.

Serious question for anyone on the BBB crowd since I haven't seen it discussed. How do you get around the next 5 months of Pearl's show cause penalty if Hart actually wanted to bring Pearl back? I'm not trying to stir the pot. I'm just looking for a rational solution to a fairly significant hurdle for Pearl to get back into coaching prior to August 2014

Whoever Bruce wants as top assistant...say Tony Jones...gets appointed interim until August...runs practices AS IF HE KNEW WHAT BRUCE WANTED and resumes top assistant role after Pearl does a pimp version of Pinball Wizard :rock:

Let's say the Vols make it into the NCAA tourney and lose their first game. Does Martin still get the extension or no? When will the decision to give him said extension be made?

Can't wait to see what Bruce will do with Hubbs, Richardson, Thompson, Moore aka the freak, maybe even Stokes if he can talk him into staying (not likely because Bruce is the kind of guy that would suggest Stokes to what's best for him and right now that's pro ball.

Let's hope we win Saturday and maybe 2 more in the SEC tourney. You are correct about being his last game in TBA. Hopefully we might sneak into the Big Dance and cause some damage.

Agree. The only cases that the NCAA adjudicates on are the ones that are handed to them on a silver platter. (Pearl, Couch, Penn State)

If they have to investigate on a matter then it usually ends up in the we can find any conclusive evidence. (Cam Newton, Johnny Football, USC took forever, OK State, Taco Gate, Any program Kiffin involved with that requires depth, Alabama Textbook issues)

Then, the NCAA is very selective because of repercussions Alabama, Miami Basketball.

Its like throwing darts blindfolded.
