Would you be for Bruce Pearl's return if Martin is fired after next year?

I certainly DON'T want to see Pearl at any other school, let alone an SEC school. But it seems almost like a no-brainer that unless Mike Slive explicitly forbids SEC teams from hiring him, Pearl is going to end up somewhere in the South...probably coaching one of our rivals.

Trust me, I and anyone else who has made this argument would be sick to watch Pearl build up a rival program and regularly start beating UT. And his most likely landing place is Alabama, IMO.

"There are situations elsewhere nationwide where coaches are working under show-causes, I do know that. Keep in mind, by the time practice starts in the fall all of this would be behind me. There would be some recruiting responsibilities that my staff would have until August. But I do think it would work if there is an opportunity this spring.

"I've always said that I love the University of Tennessee, I love Knoxville and have continued to live here. It's a great place to live. My kids have jobs here, my wife was born and raised here. It's a unique situation, but I don't think it's fair right now to Coach Martin or the players to talk about that job like it's open right now. They have some big time games and VolNation needs to continue to show why they're the best fans in the country." -BP

Hart, Cheek, Haslam, Sanson , all of the " powers that be" need to make this happen. If they really are serious about fielding a competitive BB program, they will hire the best coach we have ever had that "gets it". He can coach, recruit, excite the fans, motivate the players and create a frenzy over UT basketball that no other coach besides maybe the late , great Ray Mears , has been able to do in over 100 years of basketball. Stupid would be to NOT bring Bruce back . It's obvious he would relish the opportunity.

Sorry, you're wrong. Tobias Harris would have stayed another year, Kevin Ware would be here instead of at Louisville and one of the best players in the country , PG whose name escapes me was committed to play here as well. All this fell apart when Pearl left.

No comparison. We would play an exciting brand of BB, Pearl would relate to the fans , there would be 20k at TBA for the games and we would definitely recruit better players and play with a purpose, poise and passion!

No point in arguing this but...

Tobias was gone regardless, he basically said as much. Weak draft and projected lottery pick, wasn't a better time to go.

Ware had some NCAA issues following him, not sure if he would've stuck with Tennessee or not, but it's possible.

Chris Jones is the PG you're talking about. He likely still would've had to go JUCO, but he may have ended up back here.

I heard Harris might have returned but who knows. Regardless, we would have had more talent and definitely would be a better coached team.

Just like fans now blame Butch not making bowls on Dooley, if we hire back Bruce any blame for two years will be on Cuonzo and not him (though at least Bruce has a history of making the tourney to back up his case)

I seem to remember that if Pearl was retained that Tobias dad saying his son would return. If Pearl wasn't retained Tobias was gone. now that being said do i feel Tobias could have passed up the oppurtunity he had who knows. Its easy to say that seeing as he obviously knew the axe was falling on Pearls head.

So knowing that Zo isn't the guy - who can they hire that has proven he can take a mediocre roster and have it in the tourney the first year and every year he has coached while making an Elite Eight and attaining #1 rankings for the first time in program history - that you can pay the same to less compensation as the guy he is replacing - for whom you can add any protective language you want into his contract and he will sign it?

C'mon man! This is as big of a no brainer as it gets.
