Would you be for Bruce Pearl's return if Martin is fired after next year?

I think his perception is he ratted us out. If he'd kept his mouth shut, it would have never come to light.

After a lot of thought, we should hire CBP back as head coach....everybody lies to the NCAA and gets through it. Think about it Texas A & M with the Johnny Manizel fiasco, Auburn with Cam Newton are just a few examples recently where blatant lies were told and slaps on the wrists were the punishments....our schools and there is a long lists of those out there.

CBP lied to the NCAA, based on his own admission in the end. The above incidents no one admitted to crap and the NCAA never pursued them.

Three basic ways to tell a lie and to get away with it are as follows

Admit to nothing

Blame it on someone or something else

Deny, deny, deny any and everything associated with issue or circumstances regrading the incident.

The NCAA has their hands full and are so incompetent that they can't evidently complete an investigation unless it is given to them wrapped up in a package.

It's not what you know, it's what you can prove.

Bruce got caught red handed, so that was that.

Johnny and Cam are good as gold. No proof, the glove doesn't fit, etc etc

Can you just imagine the excitement Pearl's rehire at Tennessee would create? Wow, just the thought is incredible. Beg for forgiveness, proclaim him reformed and put Bruce back to work rebuilding this program.

PS to the administration:
We fans are dying out here PLEASE do something ASAP. It is obvious that the current coaching regime is not working and will not work. Support for CM has left the building.

Martin had to have the Florida win to make the tourney. Now it will not happen unless they win out, which will put them on the weakest part of the bubble ( we know how that's worked out the last 2 years ), or they win the SEC tourney. I just do not see either happening with this team. This is his best talent, and with McRae, Maymon, and likely Stokes gone next year it looks like Tennessee will be rebuilding in his fourth year. That should not happen with a new coach. Unless he has some kids leaving and others transferring in that are great players. I do not see how he can even be considered for another year.

Went back and looked at winning percentages of our coaches from Mears until now. It is interesting that Mears and Pearl are the only two that have won over 80% of their games before arriving at Tennessee. They also are the only two that have won over 70% at Tennessee. If we are not getting Pearl back then lets go find someone at a small school winning over 80% of their games before another program finds them. At least they might have a shot of winning here. Stats came from Wikipedia.

Did anyone happen to notice that Tennessee held Florida scoreless for 8 possessions with the 1-3-1? Six minutes. Then the first 3 pointer by Florida was hit in transition, not against the zone. Switched to man-to-man and Wilbekin immediately hit the 3 pointer to ice it!

Me and my brother talked about this...something like 2 points on 6 defensive stops. That missed dunk hurt us too...

Pearl was on local radio yesterday and completely mans up when asked about the show cause. Takes 100% of the responsibility. When questioned concerning the harshness of his penalty compared to the recent light penalties that have been handed out, his only response was if he hadn't made the mistake then he wouldn't have been in the position to be penalized. He did appear to think it was possible due to the SEC penalties / restrictions he served during his last season that the NCAA could consider his 3 year penalty to end prior to August?

I know he's not completely cleared till August, but if I'm the AD I'm hiring him as soon as the current season ends!

Those are two high profile examples.....but to think that these are the only three incidents where lies were told and teams were punished or not is wrong....

My point is I don't have a problem with hiring him back and really no one should. CBP will not make the same mistake twice.......if he took the job would could expect nothing but a squeaky well coached program.

Hire him back....

Nick Saban lied for his self perseverance how is it working out for him. Bobby Petro lied seems to working out for him too. What Petrino did should have resulted in some sort of suspension.

Yet Some Vol fans wanted to hire him as HC and they are probably the ones that will not take a second look at CBP.

I don't care much for basketball, never did. That being said when CBP took over this program it peeked my intrest. Ever since I have been a HUGE fan. Now be it I only watch our VOLS and who ever they are playin, but I am so sick if watchin these kids and the potential they have fail the way they do. Sorry let me rephrase that they give up. I feel as tho when the pressure builds up and they need to be pushed by the coaches is when they (the coaches) back off. They aren't coaching these kids up to there true potential when it's most needed. It seems as if the players are building the momentum and just when it really starts to roll the coaches kill it by calling unneeded and misused timeouts. I know I am probly gonna be disappointed VERY disappointed but dadgemit (dad-Jim-it) I want COACH BRUCE PEARL to COACH our VOLS!!!!!

A good article from clay that hits on several different topics of bringing CBP back.

His best point, if the fans really want him back, let those with the decision know. Over and over and over. Let them know how CBP vs CCM or others would impact the numbers of tickets and merchandise you buy. Not to mention all of the winning and national rankings and such.
