80-90 people? In an apartment? I call BS.

Also, what is the need of sending 13+ cruisers to make arrests for underage consumption and giving alcohol to minors? Give me a break.

I'd believe it. Its not like they're all stuffed into the apartment. A bunch of the EEs and Dobbs were at the retreat last night at a party just as big, but no cops.

If a player is arrested, IMO it warrants a suspension. Be it a 1/2 or a whole game, being arrested is a serious thing and should be handled as such IMO. Running steps just does not do it IMO. Hope Butch sends a message.

Whoa guilty until proven innocent police out in full force today. Gotta love jumping to conclusions.

Let's slow our roll and see what happens. If all the charges are dismissed does that necessitate a suspension?

If your a football player and arrested IMO you should be handed some type of suspension. Just because the coaches can smooth it over(as happens at times) does not mean a punishment is not warranted. Don't put yourself in a situation to be arrested and you don't have to worry about it happening.

Just because you are arrested doesn't mean you committed a crime, only that an initial evidentiary hurdle has been cleared. Are you saying the football players should never attend a party? Or that they should ID everyone there to ensure that no one is underage?

We are trying to be a championship SEC program, can't suspend players for the most minor of minor run ins with the law. Coaches can make them feel the pain in-house without having to suspend for a game.

Unless I can't read, resisting arrest, drugs, underage drinking, fake IDs, and 3 players arrested. Hoping it can all get squashed so these kids get a pass and don't miss any game time is no solution IMO.

If your going to throw a party, you should understand your accountable for those who attend. It's not hard to understand to me.

There's no proof of criminal drug use as there are no charges. Sometimes understanding the events completely dictates if any punishment is warranted. As we and you do not know every detail of the situation, you have no grounds to demand or suggest the range of an appropriate punishment.

I agree with Leb. I mean fake IDs and resisting arrests as well as providing minors with alcohol is really proven on the spot.

If I was the coach neither of them wouldn't play against Utah State. I'm definitely not the coach though

Yeah the drug things can and likely will be dropped. The others are pretty much cut and dry.

Exactly what I'm saying. Resisting arrest, is resisting arrest. Reports say Danny O had a fake ID and was drinking. People at THEIR party underage drinking. I don't need to wait for an "official statement" to know these guys need a wake up call. "Just squash it" is how things get worse. Hope Butch sends a clear message that it won't be tolerated.

The fake iD thing I've seen taken by the cop and given a good warning to not do it again.

Providing alcohol to minors is the ridiculous charge given to the owner of the house. What if it was BYOB and they got it from someone else inside the party? Happens more often than not. Or they had a fake to buy it with prior to the party? Is that still on the owners? It's too irrelevant of an issue.

It's not irrelevant if it lands you cuffed, arrested, and or in jail. If I know I am in the spotlight as any UT football player is, you need to be careful of the situations you put yourself into. When it goes bad, don't ask yourself why.

Just went to the FF, they are having a political argument in the thread about AJ and O'Brien getting arrested.

Honestly the last thing those cops probably wanted to do was arrest them. From OH's story in the FF (he was there) the cops came and left at least once. At that point you're really just asking to be searched and arrested. I don't know what happened exactly, not many do, but if the cops come and leave and then come back you're pretty much saying cuff me (if you're doing something illegal). Then resisting is like begging for extra charges.

I mean its simple. They effed up, a lot of young adults do. They got arrested. Some charges will be dropped, they won't be doing time, etc. I'm sure Butch has an idea already of what he's going to do. They didn't kill anyone they just screwed up having fun. No debates should be happening besides if or how long they should be suspended. I say 1 game.

Has it been a while since you were in college? The only person the records show was ID'd and underage was O'Brien. They gave their teammate a beer. He's what, 20? It's not like they were running a bar. Fake id's are common, though O'Brien should be punished for being so stupid as to show a fake to a cop. And resisting arrest can literally be attributed to anything. Cops are dicks to most college students, but they are especially so to our football players.

I had a friend in immediate fear for her life call 911 three blocks from a police station in the fort. An hour later they showed. We had a shooting in the fort, and there are mugging a daily.

Yet we are using our police resources by sending dozens of cop cars to harass some students drinking off a keg, listening to music, and generally, minding their own business.

You have to remember a lot of these football players feel entitled and they do so because of some of the reactions/thinking in this thread as an example IMO.

The idea of "no big deal" is exactly how things like this get worse and go downhill fast. Butch sends a clear message now and maybe the next time the players are a little more responsible in their actions.

Why would you go over there?

They can sit out the 2nd half of the Utah State game after we go up 3 or 4 scores!

So if it's such common knowledge that the local cops like to harass UT football players, why not avoid the situation altogether?

Naw, I'll just underage drink, show em a fake ID, and resist arrest then claim none of this is on me.

Hey coach, I'll just do 20 jumping jacks and we good ok? :eek:lol:

A. I'm thankful it happened after signing day.
B. I'm thankful it was just a typical drunken college party and not robbing a Pilot or raping someone.
