AJ and Sapp: resisting arrest.
Sapp: providing alcohol to minor.
Danny O: underage consumption.

Could have been a lot worse.

All misdemeanors.

Sapp, AJ, O'Brien arrested

Considering its those 3 names id say whoever got that butt whooping probably deserved it and did something pretty disrespectful.

Edit: all this stink over underage drinking smh. Freaking twitter stalkers and wannabe news breakers blowing crap out of proportion

I'd just make them do a lot of conditioning. Dave can think of some torture for the guys. I like it. Gasers baby!

When one's only charges are resisting arrest, it begs the question "what exactly were they being arrested for?"

As a criminal defense attorney, I am always scratching my head on this scenario. Either the cops were incredibly nice and aren't listing the charges for which they were arrested (i.e., not recommending prosecution on those charges) or there were no lawful charges to arrest them on in the first place. If this is a case of the second, look for all charges to be dismissed against AJ as soon as he lawyers up.

i wonder if cbj will suspend them. he seems like the type who would whether they were guilty or not, just getting yourself in the situation sometimes is enough for some coaches.

I know right. It's not exactly breaking news that kids in college drink. Kudos to them for doing it responsibly at a player's house.

Sounds like the guy got what was coming to him.

word, i was thinking of scoring one with a dremel to see if that would work

Any sort of pneumatic or dremel tool will work. You just need to be cognizant of what type of fittings you use. Go for a skinny "carver's chisel" if you want to try by hand or a "point bit" if you're doing it by dremel.

I wonder if i could recess the Tn rather than relief it with a silicon carbide type grinder bit for a dremel and just slowly carve it away. prob get close to done and a brittle edge would break off. i wonder if taping the edges would help

Always. Carbide x2. I'd suggest recessing it first to get a feel for it, then you can try your hand with "pimpling" the brick after you get some practice - but that takes some precision bits.

Doesn't have to be his arrest, though. He could have been obstructing someone else's arrest/frisk.

My guess is Sapp was getting cuffed and AJ, being the good teammate he is, gently grabbed the officer and helped him to the ground.

Then got up and pretended to kick a field goal. VFL.

Yes, that is certainly the argument. But, in TN, the statute includes resisting stop, halt, search, or arrest. Therefore, the officer may not intend to arrest the person but merely stop and question, and the person runs. Also, I have argued that the initial encounter was unlawful, but the statute clearly says that an unlawful arrest is not a defense. A prosecutor with compassion will consider this, however.

Bottom line is they are misdemeanors and as long as there wasn't much aggression, I would believe the charges would be dismissed. The only times I have found to have problems is when the defendant contacted or injured the officer or was very aggressive. JMO.

I don't know TN laws (I practice on the West Coast), but usually that's some form of obstruction charge instead of resisting arrest. resisting arrest is generally resisting your own arrest. obstruction or interfering is attempting to thwart the arrest of another (amongst other things).

I will however defer to you TN lawyers on this one.

Good to know . . . Either way, not likely to be a big deal and I would be shocked if all 3 aren't playing this fall (barring additional run-ins with the law).
