i think we keep him but let me ask.......
why is everyone so scared of competiton? our numbers are thin everywhere. what are these kids scared of?
Maybe the coaches told him when they were trying to get him to commit that they were only taking (2) RBs? Obviously when they take a 3rd, it does not fit with what he was told. Hope he sticks as I want to see the kid in Orange.
Thats true but hopefully he realizes with him getting injured and a good chance he wont play this year that we had to go after a 3rd. Especially with both of our RB committs coming off season ending injuries. Really hope he stays a Vol, he will be a good one.
Who said he can't go this year? Maybe he feels he will be good to go? The few things I have read make me think him seeing reps this year could very well be the case. Hurd will be full go by the 1st day of camp. IMO Paulk will surprise some folks.
Not being argumentative, but an ACL is USUALLY a year.. and thats with top notch trainers who stay on top of rehab. He is probably not getting that type of attention at home. Couple that with missing spring and its a double whammy, imo. Now I hope Paulk can come in healthy in August, learn his protections and be the stud he has the potential to be.Who said he can't go this year? Maybe he feels he will be good to go? Was gonna to post the same thing. Bama signs four R250 guys in the same class and they say they love the competition and not getting burned out. We have guys who possibly RS and freak out thinking they'll never play. I guess with the Bama's of the world you're guaranteed to have a good shot at a NC. Kids may be willing to put up with less PT if they're getting a ring out of it.
I honestly think that is what it is. A kid is more willing to risk riding the bench if he knows he has a great shot at multiple national titles. I also don't discount the rankings in a kids eyes. These kids follow their ranking on recruiting services as much as we fans do. You see them talking about it all the time on twitter. I don't think it's crazy at all for a RB coming in ranked behind the other 2 guys in this class to question where he fits in or if he does. I have no doubt the kid is also looking at the 2015 RBs the coaches are pushing for. Suddenly he is ranked behind 4-5 guys. Sure some kids would feed off it and push harder. Some may question if they are making the right call and will they actually get to play.
I hope Paulk sticks as I think he is a better RB than Scott when healthy. That is JMO.
He really is a Vol for life already. He just wants what's best for the team. Not worried about having to compete like some kids. And he is a player with lots of potential, besides being a high character young man. Superb addition to the Vol Family.Tennessees coaches once again assured Paulk that they have big plans for him despite the recent addition of Top247 all-purpose back Derrell Scott, who became the third running back in the Vols 2014 class.
They said everybody has a fair chance, Paulk said. We needed that extra running back because me and (freshman) Jalen (Hurd) went down (last season) or whatever, so they had to go out and recruit a guy because who can tell the future, if me or Jalen will be ready to go in the fall?
I mean, thats three running backs in the SEC. Im ready to come in and compete and do whatever Ive got to do. Im not worried about the whole competition part of it. ... We need more running backs. If thats going to help the team, then thats what we need to do.

Doesn't sound scared of competition to me

(On his recent visit)
It all went well. I had a good time, me and my mom. It was a great time everything I expected, said Paulk, who has been committed to Tennessee for more than 10 months. I mean, I had seen all the facilities already, but just getting back with Coach (Butch) Jones and talking to him, and talking to all the other coaches more and being with other recruits, it was just a good time.
Ive been good. People have came at me, and Ive shut down recruiters, he said. Ive been good. Ive made my commitment, so I was committed. Ive stayed true to my word, and thats that. I mean, obviously, in the recruiting game, people are going to come at you all year round, whether its the week before signing day, two months, a few months. Even after my injury, I mean, I still had schools talking to me, so schools just coming at me a week before signing day really doesnt mean anything.
(Update on his knee)
They looked at my knee up there and seen that I was doing absolutely fine, he said. My leg has came back. Im jogging and stuff like that. I mean, my leg is fine. They had a look and seen what they needed to see, and everybody was comfortable with it. Right now, Im ahead of regular schedule. Im doing more than many people thought I would be doing, so its going well.
