'14 CA CB Adoree' Jackson (Signed with USC)

I'm packing it in on Jackson. This one has taken on a Gruden-esque feel to me. Nobody on the outside has given us much of a chance, but we've convinced ourselves he's almost a Vol.

My guess (hope) is USC at this point.

CBJ and company have done great keeping this one alive to this point.

In the end, though, we need to starting winning some ball games to get out of state talents like Jackson to jump on board.

Ouch. Too much truth here.

Sutton and Adoree would go a long way in healing my heart from what we have seen at the CB position for the past few years. I will never forget sitting in Neyland watching Burton run past Teague, and put distance between them.

I'm tired of our secondary running around looking like that Kermit gif flailing their arms about as well.

He might not be a Vol but I wouldn't say Gruden-esque. Hubbs and co. never once bought the Gruden hype. They always said it wasn't going to happen and it never really had a chance. However, they've said UT is likely in Jackson's top 3 and will be in there until the end. They've also said UT is where his parents and family in Illinois would like him to go. I don't really care what national writers say, I'll take Hubbs and Fort over any of them when it comes to UT.

Again, Jackson might go elsewhere but UT is in the top group and serious players for his signature.

Didn't some analyst from Rivals say that after the in-home visits, he thought it was 50/50 Tennessee and Florida?

Yes. He said that distance from Illinois is a major factor and LSU had slipped out of the top group so it would be UT or UF in the end.

I know what everyone "expects" Adoree to do---but just think if we were able to pull him here. Butch and crew would get touted for recruiting chops and the program would have some major momentum I mean big. I agree with what someone mentioned though--pulling these types of kids generally come from winning 10 plus games a year and being in the National Title conversation. When we start doing that then kids like this will not to be sold so much...Tennessee doesn't need to be sold so hard except when we are experiencing these lean times right now.

So UF hasn't had an OV, USC hasn't had an OV, and when everyone else got an hour to chat with the family, we got to spend the entire afternoon/evening (well into the night) and you give us a 5% chance? I know it's you're opinion and all, but as of now we have something that no other school has and that's moms and pops in our corner.

It's called getting caught up in the "what ifs".
Getting caught up in the possibility that this wreck gets turned around sooner.
Then reality slapping you in the face.
Okay I can live with this answer. I'm personally not holding my breath. If he cuts his list again and we make it I might get excited, until then I'm in wait and see mode

just another note to add: I was told that there was no way that the Jacksons could have spent as much emotional energy with other staffs as they did with ours. Apparently they went all out to impress our coaches, as did our coaches with their family. The words "felt like a big family bbq" were used, and being that it wasn't at Bruce Pearls house I'm pretty excited about it.

If Landon Collins mother had her way he would have UOV lsu 43 times and took an OV under 9 different names. Parents don't always win out no matter what they do or how hard they push something. I have just not bought into the "talk" that UT is a serious option for Adoree. Sure I hope I am wrong and he shocks everyone. I just don't see it happening.

I'll say this for the kid; I know it's frustrating for us to not have a good feel as to his ultimate decision, but I respect very much that he isn't one of these kids that seems to play around with a school and its fans. For that reason, I'll be disappointed if he doesn't pick UT, but I'll still have respect for the way he handled the process and wish him luck.

Pretty sure our coaches were slated to arrive at 5pm.

If all of what we're hearing is true about his parents being on board with TN then that's huge for us.

I can dig it bro, Hubbs plays the ultra-conservative role too. I also can understand that we've been down and let down one too many times, but we are at the top. I usually don't go out of the way to suggest things but we are def in his top two. I also look at it like this.. again, if Adoree is seriously considering his family while making this decision (which he has said they are a major priority all along) then you have to feel good about where we are at. Especially since UF hasn't even had an OV from him yet.

were there at 3pm and stayed late into the night.

UF visit was short and direct, maybe an hour and from what I know they only sent a few (track coach not in attendance but that's not as huge a deal being he's been recruiting him for so long).

also, gathering from what I know USC couldn't have been there, or was there for a shorter time than UF.

You keep deflecting evidence that we're right in the hunt and your only counter is "I just don't see it happening". I get it, you just can't imagine a program like ours beating out those schools for a 5* prospect, but it's not valid unless there's concrete evidence to count us out.

Me and LV have been down this road, and I'm sure he doesn't trust what I'm saying as much as the next guy. I'm not trying to build credibility, I'm just sharing info from as close to the source as you can get. Take it or leave it, I won't be here to say "told ya so" either way. Cheers.

I have never bought the distance issue but if it is a factor why would Lsu have slipped but florida not???

Isn't Lsu much closer than Gainesville??!
