Noticed people are talking about a possibility Peyton might not be able to return next year. If this is the case, would either QB winning the SB this year and beating the other this week put him ahead of the other?

If Peyton wins the super bowl this year, the "He needs another super bowl ring to be in the conversation" crowd will move the goal posts again and claim that he needs at least 3 super bowl wins to be in the mix for goat.

If Manning and the Broncos go on to win the Superbowl then all comparison talk SHOULD be over. Will it? No. That's why there are sports talk shows and chat boards to beat it to death.

Yup.

Really this is a debate for people who just like debating. Heard on the radio this morn about how Peyton got the monkey off his back after playing a great game. He could've had the same game but if the chargers had scored 31 the conversation would have been "he choked again".

If he wins this one I don't think it can be argued anymore. It quieted down after his first one but the argument can be made that it's just 1 SB and multiple SB puts him in an elite group. It's always hard to say greatest of all time but if he gets this one easily best of our time.

If Denver's D shows up, I think the Broncos gets it done. Regarding the Brady vs. Manning talk, there will always be haters that will find something to make an argument that Brady is better than Manning.

The fact is they are both hall of fame quarterbacks that have had a tremendous amount of success. Brady has been blessed with the best coach in the league and seems to always have a great defense to complement his offense.

I guarantee you Manning could care less what anyone thinks regarding who is better. He has his eye on another ring and that is his sole focus. Personally, I don't really care either who is considered better. However, at least if he wins another SB, the majority of the Peyton hater's ammo will be taken away :)

I'm not moving any goal posts, but if the Peyton sunshine pumpers get to parade around using the more with less excuse, Brady gets to use it now. And regardless of how this season shakes out, Brady will still have more rings come March. There are arguments made for both qbs that are very, very good as far as GOAT. I still put Joe Montana there personally, but if I had to take either Brady or Manning for one must win game, I'm picking Brady.

inb4 someone claims I'm not a V4L.

Come on guys, football is a team sport. I'm tired of hearing Big Ben has 2, Eli has 2, etc....The first Superbowl the Steelers won was not "because" of Ben, it was because of a stellar defense that created a lot of TO's. Sure, he could have lost the game, but i don't think he carried them the whole year either. It's all about the right team getting hot at the right time. And i don't think we need to have the "Eli is best Manning qb" debate any longer...Yeah, he should probably have another ring or two, but he is still an all time great regardless of what happens next weekend.

They are both amazing QB's. I don't know that one is truly better than the other.

I know. The horror of realizing that opinions differ all over the place about all sorts of topics! I don't think this game makes or breaks anyone's argument for GOAT or even GOATBTBAPM. Bonus points in my book for whoever figures that out first.

I'm telling my kids he's the GOAT!

It's hard to win SuperBowls. He has a ring, multiple MVP's, Pro Bowls, and is an outstanding role model. He's the GOAT already. Media will always move the sticks to keep a debate going.

You're correct. Terry Bradshaw is GOAT.

TB has four SB rings and is indeed one of the greats, his stats are good but not on tithe level with Peyton's. Terry had the best defenses of all time on his side and was coached by the great Chuck Noll. Huge difference. :twocents:
