'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

No sir. That's a thread to remember and grieve for our fallen comrade. That info put in that thread would rustle many jimmies and rightfully so. I'm taking this news as a horrible accident, not anything illegal. Running illegal opens a can of worms that doesn't need to be opened in a public forum.

Internet has been out, so I'm all behind here. The last I heard, things were looking good. Can I get the notes on the following:

Did he lie to Hurd, thus Vol74 missing?

Did he call the coaching staff and reaffirm his commitment last night?

Any notable quotes from our committed recruits?

Anything else of note?

Thanks :hi:

I looked at Auburn's commit list, and they have 2 more JUCO DTs committed. What in the world did Lambert see on their depth chart and current commit list? Wow! Garner could convince an Eskimo that he/she could survive naked in Antarctica. Or at least pay them enough money to try it. Did you seriously believ that Stripling wasn't going to work his tail off to put you in the league like Garner said he would?? Gullible kids.

kidney stones. imo

This times a billion.' I was in a world of hurt.
Had to go to the hospital, puking, could not stop moving, and hurt to move. My left testicle hurt so bad, just my left one, and my left kidny side area: so nauseous, so much pain. Oh... mt dew rocked my world. Shot me up with 5 tubes of dope and I was still feeling like I was getting shanked in m kidney. My old lady couldn't believe it , she had never seen me in so much agony.

Do any of you actually bother to research what you claim?

Auburn University informed the NCAA regarding Robinson's transcript discrepancy, as it was they who received the second 'altered' transcript and then contacted the school regarding two different transcripts. As a result he was ruled ineligible. To take it even further, Auburn apparently cant re-sign Robinson again even if they wanted to.

So explain this to me...they changed his grades, he enrolled, then they admitted to the NCAA that there was something wrong with his grades, he was ruled ineligible, and now they cant even bring him back? Sounds like a genius plan.

Believe what you want to believe. The more realistic scenario is that someone pushed the counselor to Robinson's grades, he ended up at a school that that person didn't support, and thus they snitched. The counselor who was doing the grade changing was an Ole Miss grad.

Of course, we will believe what we want to. And our beliefs will be closer to the truth than an apologetic homer taking up for the team he roots for. It's not like this is the first time Auburn has been involved in a grade scandal or any scandal. Look no further than changing players grades before the BCS Championship game with Oregon.

Happy reading homer boy.

I've grown weary of this mentality--where is the proof that he was paid? I'm a Vol fan but just cause a kid flips (and handles it very poorly), it doesn't automatically mean he got paid.

If it was any other school, I would agree with your sentiment. But Auburn has ....earned their image as a school that plays by a different set of rules. As far as proof, it's one thing to use the where there is smoke there is fire reference. But in Auburn's case, the saying doesn't do them justice. I mean, do you really think Cam Newton went to Auburn for free when there was a documented call of his dad negotiating a payoff with another school? I'm sure I could cite other examples, but this will do for now.

Do the math. Garner is well known for being bagman and cheater. Auburn and their boosters the same. Garner and auburn been there all year they didnt just get hired on and all of a sudden at last week or two before NSD for jucos this recruitment goes spinning out of control and gets real shady.

Ill take the odds of payment in this one

I am never one to beat a dead horse.
I was curious about lambert previous status with UT.
I asked my aunt, who said he Did sign FAA w/ UT.
Those papers are still valid as well as Aubarns.
If he shows up to enroll in classes, we would have to honor the FAA.
Even if it would put us over the 85 limit.
That being said... it will never happen.
I think the Signing rules need to be addressed.
Signing with another team should breach the terms and nullify previous agreements.
I hope that gets addressed by NCAA next year.
In the case of Malone, the rules went in our favor because he picked us.
The issue is the agreements with any other schools are also still valid.
I think a FAA is fine, but there should be a 2nd signing that nullifies FAA with other teams. Right now Enrollment is the only thing that nullifies FAAs with other schools.
Hope that gets addressed.
It would go a long way in making the silly season a little less silly.

Lambert btw is under rated. He should be a 5*.
He is that good, not having him @ UT is going to hurt.
Not having that extra depth, and immediate impact is going to hurt us all the more.
I hope he stays healthy, and injury free.
If he plays at the Barn, I hope the refs call him off sides every down he plays.

He signed binding paperwork with Auburn yesterday. That should release us from our obligations with him. While on the surface this appears to be a big loss but JUCO kids are often times bust. There is a reason they're JUCO's.

I was upset yesterday but not so much today. He can say all he wants about rotating 10 men on the line but the fact remains there are only so many snaps to go around. There's a good chance he'll be one minnow in a minnow bucket where you can't tell one from another. That has the potential to effect his draft potential. We'll see how it turns out in the long run. He could have been a super star here, doubt that happens in dead treeville.

Especially with the vague comment about making the decision for his family. I mean both schools get exposure and put kids in the NFL. So all things being equal, how would going to Auburn provide relief for his family as where UT would not?

I was disappointed yesterday. This hurts our depth as well as giving our younger guys time to develop. From a talent standpoint, I was not overly impressed with him. I like Owen Williams motor and skills better. Time will tell who the better player will be. I think the pick up of Mixon helps offset Lamberts loss.

Mixon is definitely a timely pick up. I would imagine him and Own Williams can be instant contributors on the D-line next year. Hopefully we get something out of any 1 of the 3 between Jaylen Miller, Kendall Vickers, or Malik Brown. Vereen, Saulsberry, Carr, O' Brien, Jordan Williams, and LaTroy Lewis should have another year of development. And guys like Hendrix and Barnett could make an instant impact. I think Joe Henderson will need a year of strength and conditioning as will Mosley for different reasons. And if Cory Thomas sticks I think we won't miss Lambert as much as we think we will. Don't get me wrong, losing Lambert hurts but we have some good players along the defensive line.

Like losing a girlfriend. Initially it hurts, but then you realize she wasn't all that. Sure she was beautiful and had nice breasts, but I like my women a little homely looking with breasts that sit on top of her stomach. :cray::cray::cray::cray:

who am I kidding, this hurts our depth.

Presumably he lied to Hurd, but no confirmation that I saw.

It was reported he reaffirmed his commitment to the coaches the night before.

Don't know about quotes from our commitments

Lambert said his relationship with Gardner trumped b/c he believed Gardner would "bust his butt" to get Lambert into the league.

There's more I'm sure but I avoided this thread after the announcement.
