Not sure. SI had a story where his "friends" said it was his dream job.

Insiders say that when the SI story came, Gus was incensed. He had no idea where it came from, so he called Sexton to inquire. Sexton, without or without an admission of having leaked the story himself, tells Gus that the game works this way; you create drama to angle for a new contract. Gus doesn't agree with that tactic and says so. In fact, he goes so far as to say this needs to be cleaned up ASAFP. It's a distraction. Sexton says: OK, what do you want? Gus says he wants fair market value. Sexton makes a determination that $3.85 million per season with automatic escalators is fair market value. Gus signs off, AD and his legal team sign off Thursday and the deal is finalized Friday.

Gus is 100% ball coach, 0% BS.

Bama's defensive line is not as good as it has been. They are not dominant. Heck, we rushed for 127 yards and were playing catch-up all game. Neil had 70 yards on 13 carries- 5.4 average. I think Bama fans will tell you they have to get better on the DL. JMO.

By the way, Bama had Auburn beat. Just kick one of three missed FG's or convert a 4th down. Not that difficult.
So if we are gonna play the what if game, what about Marshall missing Louis wide open on the first drive for a TD? It's all about the plays you make, Auburn pounded them, and won the game. You aren't including the Bama linebackers, who are probable the best in the country.. Good try though.

IMO, it isn't that difficult. He has a good OL, a talented RB, and a QB who makes good decisions and will burn you in the run. If a team has a good DL, they can disrupt the run game and force Marshall to throw. If you do that, you can beat Auburn.

Nick Saban says THAT'S ALL WE HAD TO DO?

No doubt.

The more I think about it the more TKjr makes sense to blue shirt IMO

He could still live at home and participate in the voluntary stuff in the summer. Out of town guys would miss all of that.

Not if they stay with TKjr :)

Man, that must really be cool for those high school kids. Regarding your question, no, we play at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, as far as I know. Relatively central location. Back home in NC, we would play either at UNC or Duke, which were also central locations (or at least as close as we could manage not having any other halfway decent-sized stadium in between. I have a feeling UNC-Charlotte will eventually host now that they have a fball program.

In Texas, they play in Cowboy stadium, the Alamodome and/or the Houston Texans stadium.

They should play it in the Titans stadium as that is very central.

Looking through the football forum (I'm bored, sue me) and some of those guys think we go 7-1 in conference next year and end up in Atlanta.

I mean I know we usually talk about them being off their rocker but it's usually in a negative way..now they think we win the east next year

I'm not sure yet what I think we will do next year, but I am sure this prediction is unreasonable. They are setting themselves up for disappointment. We are taking 35 players this cycle, which should tell everyone what CBJ thinks about the roster he currently has. And I'm not sure it's fair to expect those 35 players to be All-Conference in their first year.

Yeah I think think they are expecting way too much out of the freshman

LP field is literally painted mud at this time of the year. MTSU or Tenn Tech are both good central locations with excellent accomodations.

I just want 6 wins.

Utah State, Arkansas State, Chattanooga, South Carolina, Vandy, and Kentucky is our easiest path to a bowl.

USCe and Vandy should be worse next year. Georgia and Florida are very winnable too.

Please don't talk about very winnable games at this stage...we were 300% sure that Mizzou and Auburn would be too... More than likely Utah State will end up competing for one of the bowl games this coming season bc they're on our schedule. Lol

With what I do for a living, I am adept at lie detection. Also as a Dad, you know when your kid is telling the truth or not.

I would do my due diligence Coastypop. :)

had no doubt Doc............ by the way I would do the same thing, I am a dad and a grand dad ... three boys and two girls

God help the man that harms one of my girls :)

Sounds like you want eight. I can live with that.:)

May be a better season... and should definitely go bowling, but these guys are still young, so I am taking a wait and see approach

Agreed. I think this team will be dangerous though. Question is can they step through if another team leaves the door cracked.

Good post. The answer to that question will tell us if Butch has changed the team's psyche from its losing ways of the past.

Except for obvious mismatches there are points in time when a game turns one way or the other. Pig had two negative points that cost two games. Everybody would be looking forward to the bowl and high fiving if one of them had gone the right way. As the roster improves and they gain experience there will be many more opportunities in games to change the outcomes in a positive way.

Given how the the exact same Gruden rumors have popped up on every single major college football message board the last few years, I 100% believe this.

Will need to makes some breaks for themselves and have the ball bounce their way, but who knows, it worked for the barn this year

Thanks for proving my point. As I was saying, you have to make Marshall throw the ball. You have a great example for me. I said that in my first argument. I concede that Auburn will run on you and score points. But their defense is vulnerable. Bama slowed them down enough to win. They missed out on 4 scoring opportunities. 4! The return at the end doesn't matter if they convert on one of them.

Right at 300 yards rushing versus a Saban defense in a big game. Think about that for a minute.

Yep. Thought about it. I said if they had a better DL, they could have won. I also said that they legitimately had 4 chances to win the game anyway. I am not going to keep discussing this. If you can't realize that Bama still should have win the game, I can't help you.
