" After much speculation, Josh Malone made the pick most people expected on Wednesday, electing to commit to Tennessee. With the Vols class already over 30, many fans are wondering just how many more players they can squeeze into this year's class. As usual, creative math is on the agenda. Tennessee will have as many as 13 players enroll early in an effort to count some of them against last year's class and may also ask some players currently committed to grayshirt. There's also the possibility that a few players part ways with the program. Either way, as we've seen time after time, expect the Volunteers to get it done."
"You can also expect the Vols to get it done when it comes to sealing the deal for in-state offensive/defensive lineman Charles Mosley. Several big-time programs were after Mosley during the summer, including the likes of Alabama, but all signs point the Vols landing another in-state commitment on Friday."
"Will the SEC's reign of seven straight BCS national championships end this weekend? Maybe. If Florida State and Ohio State win their conference championships, then its likely they will meet in the BCS national title game. On a side note, will the SEC still reign supreme when it comes to the Rivals.com Team Rankings No. 1 crown in recruiting? Alabama still holds the No. 1 spot and they continue to help their case as the Tide added Rivals100 standout Laurence Jones earlier this week. Tennessee sits at No. 2 and the Vols are gaining ground after landing five-star recruit Malone. Miami checks in at No. 3 with Texas A&M No. 4 and Florida State rounding out the top five. This race continues to heat up with ACC foes FSU and Miami working overtime to flip the previously mentioned Gator commits Cook and Lane. The 'Noles remain in the hunt for five-star defensive back Marlon Humphrey and four-star wideout Travis Rudolph. Miami is finalist for Rivals250 flanker Johnnie Dixon, who is set to announce on Sunday, following his official visit to Coral Gables on Saturday. USC ended the 2010 cycle at No. 1 and since that time, Alabama has won the last three Rivals.com recruiting titles. We look forward to seeing if someone can end the streak outside the SEC come National Signing Day. "
" Malone was the first player to take advantage of the new financial aid agreement provisions, signing with four schools and allowing for unlimited contact. It turned out to be a wise decision on his part, but now schools are pushing for players to sign them instead of the other way around. This week, Dalvin Cook signed with Florida State and Miami and programs are also pushing other high profile players to sign before the dead period begins. Either way, the NCAA put coaching staffs and recruits in a tough position going forward and I wouldn't be surprised to see the rule changed prior to next year."
