In a perfect world you have a point, but that's assuming Carr and O'Brien continue to progress along with Saulsberry. Williams and Lambert are indeed SEC starters and no one gets hurt.

I agree that it is very promising, but any combo of injuries and guys not panning out would leave us incredibly thin at the position again. I say take another JUCO DT if possible.

Very well said.

If you look at all the guys the staff is taking in this class who are 260+, it's clear some will play DE and some DT. If the class ends up with Barnett, Lambert, Hendrix, Thomas, Mixon, Mosley, and Williams that is 7 guys 260+. Add to that Henderson and a couple other guys who could end up as WDE and the DL should be fine. That is ALOT of help in 1 DL class to come in and help the guys already on the roster.

also a good point.

I think we have plenty of serviceable type guys at lots of positions

what we don't have is game changing type talents

so i don't really care what the position is i say go after those

i don't know which Hert is but if he is a depth type guy that has a low chance of being significantly better than the DT's we already have on roster i don't feel great about taking a schollie away from another position

we have needs all over that field so just can't afford to get a serviceable guy on board and take away a potential real game changer

jmo

and yet another good point. :)

Consider the source warning....

Clay Travis said today on 104.5 that CBJ will sign up to 35-37 players in this class. Said the rules are can sign 100 players in a 4 year period so future classes will be in the low 20's.

Again, consider the source.

So you work off a base of 25 per year.

Clay with some ground breaking info that you can sign 100 in 4 years.

Hard hitting stuff from Clay.

What about Pettway? Is he still available? Is he worth it?

I think FL/UGA/SCar are there for the beating next year. We can make a push with the right pieces and luck.

Looks like he will resign with bama. I'm fine with him not ending up in Orange. Students on campus are alot safer.

Where does the staff focus now in recruiting?

"I think they are going to focus on DL and RB. January will be alot of holding on to remaining commitments and will start big into the 2015 class."

- Hubbs

"I think the ship has sailed with Garrett. Obviously they will stay after Adoree and Charles Mosley.

After that they need a running back and more junior college and high school defensive line help."

What's to stop Butch from signing a monster class this year (maybe 2-3 over the limit), taking the scholarship reductions in 2015 and signing around 15 top notch kids, and immediately "processing" players on the current roster who won't see the field to free up spots for another monster class in 2016?

Still a top 3 class, maybe number 1 class if we sign Adoree Jackson

Brandon Powell or Derrel Scott
Adoree Jackson Signing day suprise

It's crazy how few recruiting targets remain and it's early December.

No no no. If Clay is correct about that rule then that's HUGE.

It means there isn't an over-signing rule as long as we under-sign in upcoming classes.

(unless I'm misunderstanding.)

I heard what clay said. He was just speaking in jest. I took it he was saying the 100 because of 4 years of 25. He really wasn't be literal at all
