Beginning to look doubtful. I'll be satisfied if we can just have a top 30 class like Dooley got us.

I remember doing an epic face palm when that thread came out a few days ago - some of these kids just kill me

i think our early enrollees might be a top 20 class

I love that landing Malone basically wiped out any doom and gloom from the Vandy loss.

Huge get for momentum and positivity through the off season.

Best parts of the day to me so far:

1 Obviously the Malone commit. HUGE

2 Reading how a deciding factor was the coaches showing Malone extensive film of Ferguson and now knowing he would've played these last 5 games if he wasn't injured at bama. The coaches are obviously excited about him and I am too. Can't wait for Spring practices. We may look back in a few years and be glad he happened to be hurt that week.

3 Not finishing 2nd for another top target. We were the undisputed champions of finishing 2nd for top targets under Dooley smh. Dooley's nickname should be "2nd."

4 These daydreams I keep having seeing Rliey and Hurd in the backfield, Wolf, Helm, or Creamer at TE, WR's like North, Croom, Harris, Jenkins, Pearson, Malone, Wharton, Berry, and even Williams (plus whoever else I didn't mention). Who the **** is gonna stop that? Seriously, that's straight up nasty.

5 Reading about Butch taking the whole staff to Malone's house and showing up several cars deep with a police escort. That's just badazz. I've never heard of anyone doing that. Kinda reminds me of kiffin using the helicopter in ATL. That was also pretty sweet bc I had never heard of anyone doing that before either. Now Franklin does it and still can't land the kids lol. That was so 4 years ago, James smh. We role up to recruit's houses in police escorts like Butch is Obama. Deal with it. V,B

6 More confirmation we've got a dang good HC and staff that are getting us back to the top, brick by brick.

Haha it's all good, you had me nervous for a second is all. No Reed means we need Heurtelou.

Looking at this class and the depth chart, I disagree that we need Calvin Heurtelou. Would it be a nice addition? Maybe. But need is a strong strong word.

It seems like some are saying we are limited to 14 EEs? Couldn't the entire class EE if they wanted and we are just limited to how many we can back count?

If true, I'm not impressed.

If I am Dobbs that makes me really sad.

Why?

Dobbs probably knew he was behind Riley. He got his chance to claim the job, or make a strong case for it, and he wasn't able to do it.

Things may change once he has more people to throw to though.

Thankfully though, Butch is not Obama. I actually think Butch will deliver on rhetoric. The other, not so much.

I disagree and the staff seems to as well. We're losing a bunch of DL and only have 1 JUCO DT committed at the moment, we need another.

I think Dobbs would agree that the film of him this year was a little underwhelming. Showing film of Ferguson, who was initially #2 on the depth chart behind Worley before his injury, doesn't mean that he has the job won going into next year. All it means is that Malone will have a qb, whether it be an improved Dobbs, a veteran Worley, or an upcoming Ferguson throwing him the ball. Basically, the coaches were telling him don't worry, we got you covered.

Good points - you've made me feel better about it. Thanks

Meh - Obrien, Carr, Williams, and Saulsberry is a solid 2-deep. Lambert can move inside too if needed. Supposedly Vickers gained a bunch of weight to move inside. A JUCO would be nice but I don't think it's necessary.

Greg Clark showed at least a little promise to provide depth. Not going to be a star, but you need those big uglies who just do their jobs.

Like I said, Heurtelou or another JUCO DT would be a nice addition, but people throw "need" around a lot when it isn't true.

Big fan of our Ron Swanson and respect his opinion. Just disagree a little.

In a perfect world you have a point, but that's assuming Carr and O'Brien continue to progress along with Saulsberry. Williams and Lambert are indeed SEC starters and no one gets hurt.

I agree that it is very promising, but any combo of injuries and guys not panning out would leave us incredibly thin at the position again. I say take another JUCO DT if possible.

I want to temper expectations. But i'm thinking 8 wins next year and SEC champs in 2015.

2015 has a chance to be great.

I will hold off on my expectations for 2014 until we get through spring practice. I developed my low expectations for 2013 based off of CBJ's comment in the spring that Team 117 had a small margin for error. I'm anxious to hear the buzz from coaches and others this spring, after they've had these EEs in practice.

One thing I've learned as a fan of a team in the SEC, you can never have enough talented DL. I wouldn't be mad if they signed two or three more JUCO DTs.
