I do wonder how Josh Dobbs feels about this situation? "Hey, we got an elite WR for you to throw to but to get him, we had to show him an hour and a half of film of a QB that wasn't you and convince him that THAT is who would be throwing to him."

Dobbs has something that Ferguson doesn't at this point...playing experience in the SEC. While the starting QB competition next year will be fierce, I think right now Dobbs has to like his chances as does Worley.

For the record, Josh did call Butch Jones last night and tell him his intentions.

I'm confused. Not doubting you necessarily, but I don't know who to believe. According to the 247 article: Top247 wide receiver Josh Malone commits to Tennessee Vols,

The coaches didn't know up until the announcement.

Malone said he didn’t inform Jones and the rest of the Vols’ coaches of his decision before announcing it.

“Honestly, I haven’t even told them yet,” he said. “When I was getting up (from the table after the announcement), Coach Jones sent me a text message. I’m pretty sure they’re going crazy right now. I’m looking forward to calling him after all this.”

Booooooommmmm!

This is unreal. And to think after the Vandy game I briefly let myself think the sky was falling. I should have pinched myself and said three times fast: "Dooley is no longer our head coach..."

Can't remember who said it, lou Holtz I think, but several other coaches agreed when he said experience is far and away the most worthless factor in determining who to start, in any occupation. Talent should be the only factor. If you bench talent in favor of experience, your talent will never get experience and you'll never reach your team potential.

Malone is not the athlete Hunter was, but I'd say he has better hands and routes and blocking ability, in my amateur opinion.

Hunter was close to Olympic level athlete, don't see many of those.

agree completely - I would say Hunter had the higher ceiling just not quite as developed as a WR - elite athlete

Couldn't have been Holtz. Not enough shpit.

My question is simple. Why do certain folks on here act like they are insiders? There is no shame in just giving your opinion. I won't mention names but isn't it clear there are 3-4 on this board in particular that aren't insiders and only act like they are?

That is why I enjoy reading Swanson’s posts. He never claims to be an insider, just a guy who connects the dots and has a gut feeling on things. The supposed insiders please just stop, you get the entire board in a panic over a "so called telephone call “that you have no idea happened or not.

Ok, I'm done.. going back to work now. Very glad the young man picked the Vols.

I don't disagree and based on everything that I saw about this season, Dobbs was the 4th QB and Ferguson would have started instead of him if he hadn't gotten hurt. However, based on when they both were recruited I think they were both considered about the same talent wise. Time will tell, and I hope Ferguson gets his chance to prove himself but I also don't think Dobbs is out of it either and neither is Worley. Ferguson may be the next coming of Payton but who knows...

I just wanted to say I posted in the Josh Malone Thread! Damn at thee boomage up in here! Got to love what Butch is doing. When we start winning the recruits will be lining up to have the opportunity to wear orange!
