JCS, needless to say the football program has dropped off a lot since I was there.

I hope Drae turns it up next season.

Ah we use to be bitter rivals then man. I remember the 2004 season. Those were the most fun games to watch. We could just never beat you all back then.

When does the December dead period begin? I was thinking there was a dead period that started like the second week of December and lasted until like the first or second week of January. Am I remembering wrong?

For whoever wants the glory of keeping up with stuff like this:

December 1-15
Contact Period

December 18-January 15
JUCO Early Enrollee signing period

December 16-January 15
Dead Period

January 16-February 1
Contact Period

February 2
Quiet Period

February 3-6
Dead Period

February 5-April 1
National Signing Day (signing period begins)

The Udub job has really turned into a sweet assignment. I was actually kind of surprised Sark took the USC job.

Minuses: friggin’ cold, you aren’t an SEC team

Pluses: SoCal teams hate friggin’ cold, you don’t have to play SEC teams

Let's hope Jimmy Frank goes there.

For some of those fans who will continue to ooze with unrealistic expectations, disregard this post. For those of you who still maintain a high level of confidence in Butch and this staff and understand that the transition between #117 and #118 is an important one and goes beyond whining about Worley vs Dobbs vs Fergie vs Peterman looks better than all of them. It goes beyond fire Butch after that fake field goal attempt. It goes beyond the Gators were giving us the game. Some of us still remember that one mantra that has never changed, "Brick by Brick". Oh and "changing the culture of the program". For those of you who don't know what that means, I'll help you:
The Elements of Culture
1. Symbols: Anything that carries particular meaning recognized by people who share the same culture.
The Power T
2. Language: A system of symbols that allows people to communicate with one another.
Butch his staff and their offense which includes S&C, terminology, scheme, playbook.
3. Values: Culturally defined standards of desirability, goodness, beauty and many other things that serves as broad guidelines for social living.
The expectation of this program on and off the field. Which includes winter workouts, the older players getting the younger ones to understand the standard. The purpose of brick by brick. These values are passed on from one class to another with consistency in order to be effective.
4. Beliefs: Specific statements that people hold to be true.
The Maxims. Those corny sayings that high and mighty fans don't like but the players do. The same corny sayings that CBJ uses to show how they apply on game film. That's all that matters.
5. Norms: Rules and expectations by which a society guides the behaviour of its members.
1000 APR. Players holding themselves to a set of standards that they don't have to think about it, we can see it oozing out of them when we see them on campus. It becomes who they are. Everyone is held accountable. Everyone takes on the personna of their head coach.
Culture does not, will not and has never changed over night and never will. The little things Butch does that we consider trivial are not, when it comes to these players and recruits. Breaking down and destroying a losing mentality in some older players in order to fill them with the mentality of winning. To bringing in fresh recruits who only know winning and trying to not corrupt that thought process but nurture it and develop it. You can question play calls and holler fire Jake and Jancek til you wither away in your computer chair but that will not stop this staff from changing the culture of this program. There may be growing pains along the way but some of us understand that the results will be worth the wait. I want to see the culture change back to the old UT. The UT that everyone in the SEC was scared to death to play. It's coming. Help is on the way. A Culture change is on the way.

That's a demotion IMO.

Negative. Washington has quite a bit of history. They've been down for a while but It's a better program imo. Keep in mind...it was a forgone conclusion that Pinkel was gonna get canned coming into this season.

Edit: they're somewhat similar historically, and I'm not downing Mizzou. My cousin was a WR there a few years ago Sean Coffey. I like Coach Pinkel. But I just wouldn't call UW a downgrade....even if Mizzou is in the SEC.

2005 Candy game irritated me more than any other. We were an 11 point favorite and lost. That broke the 22 game streak. 2008 Wyoming homecoming is next.

Hated those too.

Heck I still haven't gotten over 96 memphis. 13 vu I'll probably take to my grave.

Prior to Pinkel, Mizzou's football history was limited in it's success at best. With him it has trended up to heights never achieved previously including very successful participation in the best conference in CFB. So he may have a choice to make if he is a target. Continue the legacy that his mentor built at UW or continue his own at Mizzou. Some guys like challenges and want to return to hallowed ground in their minds and hearts (Majors). Some are very content to continue building their own legacy. I have no idea with Pinkel. It has to be tough as RR says, UW would be an excellent job as that program is at a high level.

Most on here questioned Mizzou as an SEC participant. I never did having attended games there in 70s and 80s. Like aTm, entry into the SEC opened them up to a recruiting base they did not have previously. The talented mid-west and plains kids now have an option that is attractive to them since Mizzou is good at academics and has a fun environment. Just a great college town, IMO. I seriously considered leaving my occupation and going to graduate school there back in the day. Pinkel should be the toast of the town now and the naysayers should be hiding under a rock.

"Coach Jones, a lot of people knew that they were going to have a rough season, but they panned out better than I thought they would. The win over South Carolina was pretty big -- first win over a top-10 team in a long time. I'm looking forward to doing some big things here soon with me over here and all the good players we're bringing in."

Evidently CBJ gave the recruits extremely low expectations for this year. Maybe CBJ should have climbed onto VN and given the posters here those same expectations.

Webb's Todd Kelly wants one more state title, then UT Vols success | timesfreepress.com

TK, Hurd, Vic, and Bates are going to go a LONG way in changing the mindset of the team, IMO. Granted, I think CBJ has done a good job of doing that himself thus far but this is the first class I can remember that has openly talked about winning championships...in a while.

Huge boost in talent and attitude, can't wait to see them play.
