Palardy gets an 'A' ... Through out all this adversity, I don't think I've ever been more proud of an individuals perserverence.

Also,
I would be totally ecstatic if 56 played DE next season. (pipe dream,I know.)

As long as all the LB recruits get in I wouldn't mind seeing Maggitt used on the edge.

Anybody know why Muschamp wasn't fired this offseason?

Personally, I think part of the reason is that the AD knew he'd have a tough time luring someone in there to replace him if he didn't give Muschamp more of a chance to prove himself.

We don't have all the natural advantages of Florida. If we go firing coaches every 2-3 years because they can't win immediately, we will be in the dumps for a decade. Guaranteed.

People need to get real. We WERE a top 10 program. Today, we ARE a .500 program with a mediocre roster that's not going to get fixed in one recruiting cycle. I'm confident we will get back to where we were, but it will take time.

We've spend one week in the AP top 25 in the last 6 seasons. Get your mind around that. Understand what we have become and how much further we still have to go.

With the level of talent Butch is recruiting, I don't think it's too aggressive to expect to be competing, and beating, most of our rivals. That, in and of itself, should translate in the SEC East and bowl games.

I'm not asking for much, just exactly what should be expected from a team that, by year three, will be comprised of at least two-thirds of elite players.

Wife and I just found out that we are having a baby girl with our first child today. The good news flows this week and we get Malone and Mosley to top off a fantastic few days

Now this is what is really important. Congrats. Been there myself with a couple of daughters. One of which recently gave us a grandson and future VFL this past spring.

I'm not satisfied with 5-7, but I understand it:

Bad roster + hardest schedule in school history = mediocre season

I'm not ready to trash the coaches over that.

When I watch essentially three different coaching staffs coach many of the same players for three years, and they all get mediocre results, that leads me to conclude we need new players.

Butch has concluded the same thing, thus we are signing ~35 players this cycle.

I get where you are going with this and do not disagree on the talent gap at all.

However, tell me how Freeze can go to an Ole Miss program playing in the west division and still pull 7 wins plus a bowl the first two years he is there with just as bad talent? Yes - he had a great freshmen recruiting class. But they were true freshmen - how did he get it done? A nobody coach before he arrives without the best staff in America. UT had arguably better talent than them by simply having the supposedly best O-line in the SEC. They had no players or unit that was near the top. They bowl - we don't. Don't say schedule - theirs had aTm and LSU on it to counter some of ours.

I am not wanting this staff to go. I want them to get it done. :hi:

Well, last year Freeze beat 3 easy OOC teams, Auburn (3-9), Arkansas (4-8) with a lame duck coach, and MSU, which was a decent win. I guess we should have beaten UF. But, I will never understand why people make blanket statements without understanding the reasons why things happen. Freeze did a good job, but it's not like he beat teams he wasn't supposed to. As far as comparing Freeze this year, lets wait and see what Butch does next year.

Sorry it's so long, but Michael Palardy posted this on his Facebook earlier today. True VFL. Take 3 mins and read.

"I want to first off start by saying how blessed and honored I am to have such an amazing 4 years at the University of Tennessee. God has blessed me with such an amazing support system in my family, friends, coaches, teammates, and the faithful fans on VolNation. I want to thank each and every person I have met along this road that has led me to where and who I am today. You guys are the reason for my drive to be successful.

For the first time in my life, I can honestly say if I had the choice to go back and do it all over again, I would. These have been the best times of my life that will NEVER be forgotten. Even through all the adversity I have hit and all the scrutiny I experienced along the way, Rocky Top will always be Home Sweet Home to me.

Which leads me to this, THANK YOU for everyone who said I couldn't be somebody, for all the people who have doubted me, cussed me, and didn't believe in me. I am eternally grateful for all of you. YOU have been my fuel, the one spark I needed to get me to where I am today. I appreciate all the criticism ever given to me from you.

And I will continue to embrace it, because what you don't know..is that it has not only made me a better player, but it has most importantly made me a better man. So again, THANK YOU! for you are the reason for any ounce success I have in my life, on and off the football field.

If I had the time to individually thank every person that has supported me throughout my journey at UT, you better believe I would. I wouldn't want to have been a part of a better University than the one I am at now. As my journey as a collegiate student-athlete comes to a close, I will miss all the special memories I have had on and off the field being a Tennessee Volunteer.

As for my family, I love you. Each and every one of you have been there since day one, through think and thin. Your unwavering support for me is something I will cherish until my dying breath. As for my friends, you have made my time here so enjoyable and I have met some of the most amazing people and made some of the strongest bonds that I will carry with everywhere I go. And last but not least, for all the VOL fans!

Continue to be the best, it was an honor and privilege to wear Orange and White and play for you. I will miss seeing all of you on Saturday's in the fall. Promise me one thing, win or lose, rain or shine, support the guys in Orange and White, I know some people take it for granted sometimes, but they work their tails off day in and day out so you can enjoy College Football.

I know the past few years have been rough, trust me I know firsthand, but the future teams need YOU. It's been an amazing 4 years EVERYONE. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will do my very best to be a true Vol For Life wherever this road leads me!"

Over this past season, he has became one of my favorite vols! The way he dealt with everyone screaming for his head after he would have a poor performance and then come out and be one of the best kickers in the nation is inspiring.

Butch gave Palardy the confidence to become an All-SEC caliber kicker.

Palardy gave Butch his first signature win.

He's the biggest success story from CBJ's first season, and one we'll remember for a long time.

I'm happy for Palardy, the guy had an unbelievable year and likely went from having no shot at prolonging his career to at least having the opportunity to.

Happy for him and wish him, and the rest of the seniors, the best.

The end of college life was a HUGE relief and scary as hell, all in one. The players invest more time and effort into their college careers than most of us even thought about. I just hope the next group gets to go bowling next year, to go all four or five years of your college career without ever having gone to a bowl game would be a travesty.

Here's hoping and praying they can do it, if only for their sake.

Also, speaking of Butch restoring his confidence, I can't remember where I heard it but, I'd REALLY like to know if this is true...

I heard Dooley would say to Palardy "don't f*** up" every time he was about to run out on the field.

I honestly wouldn't put it past him...

Palardy is definitely a true VFL and has become one of my favorites. He never quit or gave up and all his perseverance is now beginning to pay dividends. Look forward to seeing him on Sundays...

Palardy has been awesome this year! His punting alone won us a few games and kept it close in a couple of more games.

After watching his hs kicking videos I always wondered why he struggled the first few years. Glad he finally had a coaching staff that could help him improve as a player and as a person.

Hope he gets a chance to continue playing at the next level. If he doesn't, I wish him success in whatever else may lie ahead.
