Adjusting scheme and playcalling to fit your talent? That's what I'm talking about.

I don't expect these players to be something their not. I DO expect the coaches to make the best of the talent their given.

What did that have to do with the WR and TE coaches? You can't get a lot out of player if the player won't get out of their own way mentally. Croom and Smith are two prime examples. North on the other hand attacked the ball better and better as the season went along. I guess CZA needs no credit for that too huh?

I disagree a little on Croom. He isn't the stud we all want (yet), but he had an underrated year IMO. Some really key downfield blocks, some big catches on third downs, and a solid yards per catch average. He showed some promise for a red shirt freshman. He was also on his way to a breakout game against Kentucky. Shame he got hurt.

Congrats. Speaking of kids, we received some hand me downs when my son was first born. In those clothes were some Purdue stuff, UT stuff and a SCAR shirt. My girl doesnt really follow sports, so she didnt even know what the stuff was. She constantly put the SCAR shirt on him.. needless to say, I dont wanna take him out in public when hes wearing it... b/c I dont want people thinking that I beat my kid. True story.

I don't get the satisfaction with status quo with a 5-7 team (again).

You look at the units that underperformed and analyze how much of it was each unit's level of talent and effort. Then you figure out how much of it was wrong techniques, scheme, and play calls. That's what I expect our coaching staff to be doing as of today for next season along with the recruiting. You look at the other units that performed average or better and figure what needed to be done for them to have been dominating (O-line). Because none of that stuff basically changed throughout the season.

But don't be saying we should be OK with 5-7 and that this coaching staff proved themselves this season. Nope. They are not the best staff in America at this point. Hopefully they will be someday. They will start proving themselves when they sign a great recruiting class in February to be capped with a winning record and bowl next season.

My wife's uncle is a huge Bama fan so he wanted to be funny and sent us a Bama t-shirt for our 1 year old daughter. Then he asked my wife to take a pic of our daughter for him in the Alabama shirt.

Needless to say, that shirt convientely went "lost" and he received a picture of her in a UT onesie. I don't play any games with that ish

Congrats! As the father of two girls; go buy something REALLY manly soon or go kill something with your bare hands because you're about to learn how to style hair, pick out girl clothes better than your own, allow yourself to have your nails painted, learn all of the gossip, pretty much everywhere, and cry waaaay more than you ever thought you would.

:) it's GREAT.

...but there's a reason why I have Saturday mornings to do my weekend warrior stuff and do a man-trip to Colorado every year. :p

I study Isshinryu and I got my daughter taking classes too.
I will gladly pay an emergency room visit for a over amorous young man. Congrats!

I'm not satisfied with 5-7, but I understand it:

Bad roster + hardest schedule in school history = mediocre season

I'm not ready to trash the coaches over that.

When I watch essentially three different coaching staffs coach many of the same players for three years, and they all get mediocre results, that leads me to conclude we need new players.

Butch has concluded the same thing, thus we are signing ~35 players this cycle.

Abso-freaking-lutely.

Anyone who gives this staff a passing grade for their first year is simply offering excuses for failure. I've heard enough of that, some admittedly from my own mouth, to last an entire lifetime.

CBJ doesn't get off the hook if all he can do is recruit with the big boys, you've got to beat them on the field.

Ha ha! So true! I have two girls and it's the BEST! Can't tell you how many times I've had my hair done and played barbies.

I also have a massive weapon armory and get plenty of time in the field and on the water, that helps balance things out.

Enjoy the ride!

Anybody know why Muschamp wasn't fired this offseason?

Personally, I think part of the reason is that the AD knew he'd have a tough time luring someone in there to replace him if he didn't give Muschamp more of a chance to prove himself.

We don't have all the natural advantages of Florida. If we go firing coaches every 2-3 years because they can't win immediately, we will be in the dumps for a decade. Guaranteed.

People need to get real. We WERE a top 10 program. Today, we ARE a .500 program with a mediocre roster that's not going to get fixed in one recruiting cycle. I'm confident we will get back to where we were, but it will take time.

We've spend one week in the AP top 25 in the last 6 seasons. Get your mind around that. Understand what we have become and how much further we still have to go.

Great post.

Hope you have a boy to enjoy the other side of things.

Took my boy deer hunting today!

Pete Carroll and that coaching staff in Seattle are just ridiculous at finding talent, developing it, game planing, just everything.

Palardy gets an 'A' ... Through out all this adversity, I don't think I've ever been more proud of one individual's perserverence.

Also,
I would be totally ecstatic if 56 played DE next season. (pipe dream,I know.)
