Can you honestly say the WR's and TE's got better as the year progressed?

That's enough reason right there.

Well North ended up looking much better from game 1 to game 10 and all Pig could do was run reverses last year.

Downs should not be playing, its not his fault because he has had to deal with so much injuries, but he is nowhere near a SEC caliber player

Pete definitely gave him props but I'm sure Fulmer would have given Randy Sanders props here. It is much easier to win at UW than Vandy. UW is a top 3 job in the Pac 12 IMO. Oregon and USC being the only better ones.
Problem is the Sec East is wayyy down. The pac 12 is up. Franklin is fools gold bro.

edit: Fulmer fired Sanders.

He is still winning with Vandy players. East is down, but a down SEC should still have Vandy as a whipping boy. I admit he has had a very lucrative schedule the last two years, but back to back 8 win seasons at Vandy is impressive.

Pac 10 was a dumpster fire when Sarkisian got there. Its gotten better this year. 4 out of 10 teams fired their coaches 2 years ago and he still couldn't do better with a lot of talent.

Their records are similar. Sark came out and played LSU his first two years iirc. James' next ranked ooc opponent would be his first. One more thing. Bobby Johnson recruited these kids.

Sark has never had a 9 win season and plays in a much easier conference. Franklin plays enough ranked opponents in conference. Vandy has wins against every SEC east team except South Carolina in 2 years. Thats a crazy stat. Franklin developed them. No one knew of Matthews, Stacy, or Heyward until Franklin.

Sarkisian had Jake Locker, Keith Price, Bishop Sanky, and Jermaine Kearse. All are elite college players. He should have won more.

I'm not as high on Franklin as most, but he is a much better candidate then Sarks IMO.

What WRs supposedly got worse? What do you want these guys to do with limited talent? You can't just make players have more talent than you expect. At WR he has two good players(North and Howard period). TE is in even worse shape...... You guys act as if we've got guys who are regressing off of good years.

No kidding. My guess is no one will be complaining about
the ZA next year if Malone and Pearson are on the field .

The only minor complaint I have with Azzani is I would've
played Johnson and pulled Josh earlier in the year when he was dropping so many passes.

However, Johnson got hurt and he probably was still recovering.

Wow just wow!!!

Nashville=Vols strong hold!!

@wesrucker247: Still a #Vols town. RT @MarkBinda: In Nashville, Broncos-Chiefs game had slightly better TV rating (24.6) than Titans-Colts game (24.0).

Nashville news channel 5 reporter, Nick Beres is reporting that Jimmy Franks may be subpoenaed in the Vandy rape case.

Geez, I can't imagine a class act guy like J Franklin being involved in that whole mess.....NOT.

I had a feeling from the very beginning his shady azz was tied into this somehow, but kinda thought vu would find a way to keep his name out of it. My only question now is how deep is he in. Wouldn't it be something if this thing blows up on him and it turns out he tried to cover it up somehow or something else serious. If USCw didn't even call him, I wonder if they somehow knew something about him and this case(or maybe they just weren't interested, idk). It'll be interesting to see in the coming weeks if other schools approach him or not wanting him to be their HC. I'd surely think there are/will be schools interested in him. I guess we'll see.

I think we were really hamstrung at WR by having a new system this year. If this is year 3 or even year 2 of this system I think DY would have seen the field more at different positions.

Only real explanation I can come up with after UK is that he was stuck behind Pig and didn't know the plays at the outside position.

And yes, I realize a 5'7" guy, or whatever he is, isn't ideal for an end but he showed he can catch this last week and he would have been playing over Smith IMO.

Also, anybody know what happened to J Williams the second half of the season?

I don't think that is because of the vols. nashville is a fairweather heaven. I'm sure most just wanted to watch game of the week and have no allegiances

Serious question: How do you tell the difference between bad coaching and poor talent? I would argue a bad coach can make mediocre talent look bad -- in the same way a great coach can elevate the same mediocre talent.

The talent may be the real issue as you say but I saw plenty of reasons to be worried about the coaching as well.
