"Half Season" Martin Pre February Record

Good coaches are very demanding and don't tolerate half-assed, stupid play. Martin simply isn't demanding enough--he's not a guy who can move us forward.

Great job responding to the adversity of losing to utep!

14-6 is very obtainable now!

The only reason we won against Up state was a kind whistle in the first half. Come on chris do you honestly think the free throw the first half wasn't the reason we didn't get blown out. TN 15/21 UPSTATE 2/2

I'm not even sure what you're trying to say/ask.

The refs kept us in the game first half, home cooking.

Ok, but your post was written with the benefit of hindsight. Mine that you quoted was written before the Upstate game (and in response to the first Xavier game) I believe. Not sure how the two relate.

Tn 15/21 UPState 2/2 first half. I don't mind a little cheating when it's on our side, but I will call a tree a tree and not pretend it is a rock.

Did you watch the game? We were taking the ball to the hole. That's how you draw fouls.

I'm very much on the fence with CCM right now, but you're just trying to twist stats to force your agenda. Anybody who knows anything about basketball would know that the more aggressive team gets more calls. We were driving the lane. They sat on the perimeter the whole half. You've been spouting this ever since the game, but it's not any less wrong now than it has been before.

I agree with u that we were forcing the issue and they couldn't handle us physically causing more fouls.on the other side,in the ncaa forum there are tennessee fans complaining about kentuckys home cooking involving the same situation. Lol

Martin has had some pretty substantial changes in personnel year to year so far. It takes a little time for a basketball team to come together without that continuity. Based on the last two games, I believe this team is already coming together very well.

Denny Crum had allot of slow starting teams during a long career at Louisville, but they always finished strong. The same is true since Martin has been here. This Tennessee team may be a better tournament team than we have seen in quite awhile. I have no complaints.

14-6 going into Febuary has been my line drawn in the sand from the start of the season.

I dont agree with Those of you calling for half seasons head already. He deserves a shot to get to that 14-6 mark IMO. If he makes it he keeps deserves the 2nd half of the season IMO.

14-6 is very obtainable.

Lsu, kentucky, and florida all are acceptable road losses but that leaves no other slip ups!

The pressure is on and I think this team will get it done

I'm not calling for his head but he's definitely not given us much to be excited about. Just wish we had an actual big win over a good opponent. Right now wake is our best win and I'm not really sure how wake will be in the end.

big man stats- tenn forwards.. Not enough production.

J. Stokes games scoring over 20 points: 2 games in 2013-2014.
Under 10 points 3 games. Ave. Per game 14.1
over 20 points 2 games in 2012-2013. Under 10 points 11 games. Ave 12.4

maymon games scoring over 20 points: 0 games in 2013-2014.
Under 1o points 6 games. Ave. 9.9

Comparing Stokes and Maymon with two of the best to ever wear Orange 40 years later is silly. Basketball has changed so much since their time that it wouldnt really be a fair comparison in spite of the obvious talent differential. The sport has become much more perimeter-oriented.

That's like comparing Luol Deng to Pippen and Jimmy Butler to MJ smh lol.

@wesrucker247: #Vols' Jordan McRae: I know we're gonna fix it. We always do. We just can't wait until late January again to do it.

14-6 looks very problematic now!

Getting my list together

Good effort tonight against a lower tier Acc team. No way Virginia is a NCAA tourney team but none the less a great performance tonight.

We MUST take tonight's play onto the road at Lsu, florida, or kentucky.

This team is plenty capable of winning 1 or 2 of those games.

Not a fan of this non D1 game we have coming up. Not sure what we possibly can gain from it. Looks like the kind of game that we easily could lose the "edge" we got tonight

14-6 or BUST!!
