Or watched the tape of the punt team vs Auburn.

Get some athletes on the field. Am I the only one who
hates the 3 man protection on the punt unit?

Watching 300lb lineman flailing in the open field trying to
tackle Auburn skill players, not good.

I couldn't look away - I am convinced I could outrun some of those guys backwards with a stroller.

Wilcox D getting torched.

It’s had its moments. But overall, still not going to get into BCS conversation until they get better players or start playing better. I just don’t see either of those two things ever happening at UWash.

I never understood the hire. They get rid of Fisher more or less because he had been there for so long and things were stagnant. You would think in that scenario they would clean house with the coaching staff and get a fresh start, not promote from within and basically change nothing.

They need fresh blood in there badly.

To me that was Bud Adams in a nutshell. He seemed to be so connected to certain parts of the past, it influenced parts of the organization in negative ways...he was resistant to moving outside of his Love Ya Blue world.

I think Munch was comforting to him...in Bud's eyes, something Bud built.

There will be many good candidates out there...I just hope the family will take one.

The only person I really hope the family takes is a kid from Texas by the name of John Manziel. Would be a game-changer IMO.

He will not be an elite qb at all in the nfl. Book it. He's a product of a great system and Mike Evans. Keenum put up gaudy numbers under Sumlin too.

Keenum is doing just fine in the NFL.

I'm not saying Manziel will be elite in the league but to say he's a product of a system is nuts. He'd be putting up ridiculous numbers no matter where he played.

Look for Manziel to have the Tim Tebow effect in the NFL... minus the good character.

I would just about drop money on that.

Wouldn't disagree with that. He's a baller at the NCAA level though..I was just saying I don't think he's a product of a system.

Manziel can throw a football. I hear that's pretty paramount among the qualities that an NFL quarterback needs to succeed.

I'm gonna disagree with you. Manziel can actually throw an accurate pass, he's gonna be a fine NFL QB, IMO. Tebow on the other hand, was just a terrible passer, I still can't understand how Denver picked him in the 1st round???!! I think he'd fail in the CFL too.

I'll admit that I've thought this too, but you have to watch the kid. He's an electric playmaker and just a flat-out ball player. There's something very special about Johnny Manziel.

My only concerns with him are 1) the attitude 2) his size - 6'0, 190? and 3) his willingness to take on another system. It's pretty obvious that he and Sumlin have a special relationship and that when he's on the field the only offense being played is Johnnyball, i.e., the pocket collapses, Manziel scrambles, and out of nowhere a pass is miraculously completed to Mike Evans (who is a total beast himself). The strength of Johnny Football's game comes when the play breaks down and he improvises; unfortunately, I'm not sure that's what NFL coordinators want to see.

That's all we need in Nashville is another effing clown show. Because that's exactly what Mr. Football will bring, ala Vince Young on steroids. But in reality, that sounds just like what the Titans will probably do.

Curt Cousins (RG3 backup) has more than proven that he's capable of being a bigtime QB during RG3's injury. I'd throw a 1st at him. If not, it's too good of a QB draft to take a chance on Johnny Football. Zack Mettenberger, Aaron Murray, Tahj Boyd, UCLA QB (possibly). Throw Johnny Football in that list and it's a phenomenal list of rookies coming up. To good of a list to risk on Manziel IMO.

And who is gonna coach the Titans? Thinking back to the Peyton Manning deal....you can't blame the Titans for lack of trying, they threw the house at him.

As for a coach, if they were to go for a truly elite guy like Gruden or Cower, they would need to offer to make them the highest paid in the league off the top. Other wise, there are some pretty good guys on the next tier I think they could get. #1 on my list would be Lovie Smith. In fact, outside of Gruden/Cowher I think Lovie is the best out there. If I didn't hire Lovie it would be David Shaw from Stanford. I think dude is a fabulous coach and can get it done at any level ala Harbaugh. Jmo

There are some really good coaches out there, and some really good young options at QB. Too many for the Titans to mess up.

But at the end of the day, I FULLY expect them to......eff it up :(

I heard Lovie was on a plane to Nashville as we speak and Gruden's wife was in Brentwood last weekend looking at houses. TIFWIW

Derek Dooley was seen at a Nashville restaurant with three Titans officials and his wife was seen at a real estate office. Looks like it's Doofus.

:)

Edit: Getting real, Lovie Smith would be a good coach for the Titans.

Why are you all talking about the Titans drafting a QB? Locker looked really good, a lot better than Cousins, before the first injury, or are the injuries the issue? If so I don't think you want Mansiel.

IMO they need a new coach, more OL help, better LBs, and a legitimate deep threat at WR (which may just be the development of Justin Hunter) before they need a QB.

So...basically what you're saying is that QB is, practically speaking, the ONLY place the Titans don't need help.

Jake Locker isn't a franchise QB. He's made of glass and isn't that good even when healthy. He had 3 decent games this year.

As for Manziel, I think he's going to be a big success in the NFL. He's a better QB than fellow "shortman" Russell Wilson, IMO.

So you think Locker is the Future? I don't think he has stayed healthy for a 5 game stretch for his entire career. So while he has vastly improved his play, staying healthy is.....well it's kinda important. And IMO franchise QBs don't suffer season ending injuries by handing the ball off and not even getting touched.

And no Locker hasn't played better than Cousins. And while Cousins might never get a call from the Titans.....I'm betting if you privately asked NFL GMs who would be the better bet to lead a franchise, they would overwhelmingly vote for Cousins.

Cousins was also disgustingly better than Locker when they hit it off in the pre-season.

My only qualms with Manziel are the risk of PR issues and the risk of him mouthing of to a 6'5" 270lb NFL DE who can outrun him. In other words if he attempts to verbally show up the opposition in the NFL he will get his spine broke. And I'm not sure he's smart enough to zip it.

With that being said....I think skill wise Manziel is a beast and without a doubt has the skill to make it. He's got Doug Flutie written all over him. He's also FAR FAR more accomplished than Locker out of college. Locker was average to good in college, he's average to good now. His measurables fool everyone into thinking he's better than he really is. He's a glass china doll.

Evil twin brother of Kirk Cousins?
