Recruiting Forum: Football Talk VIII

We just beat the #11 team in the country and the game before took the whatever # UGA was to OT and should have won that game. Yet, many of you are still thinking we only win 1 maybe 2 games out of our last 5? Wake up, people! This isn't the previous staff, this is the opposite of that. We are going to win at least 3 more games. It's going to happen. It's okay to start believing that.

Ron, what you are witnessing is PTKDSD...a very rare malady that has only recently been desrcibed. This disorder is horrible in its presentation (otherwise rational Vol fans with now irrational expectations of losing to Every other team)

Coach Butch Jones, the Best Coaching Staff in America, and teams 117 & 118 will be the cure. It will be tough to resue some of them, especially "the realists". But we must support our Vol Brothers and Sisters in their darkest hours...remain the beacon of hope and optimism that you have become as you sir are part of the cure! :hi:

PTKDSD = Post Traumatic kiffin dooley Stress Disorder. :)

If treated correctly, it will disappear from the face of the Earth, just like Small Pox! Hehe

I have done this the past few weeks. I think it's fun to see exactly where you guys see our chances of winning these last 5 games,

Bama 25 %
Mizzu 55%
Auburn 75%
Vandy 95%
Kentucky 100%

I am totally on board with this team, by kickoff Saturday, it will be at least 50% vs bama. Never ever think we will lose...just cannot be that guy. Not the way I am made. :)

So does anyone have any reason, besides blind optimism and hope, that we can beat Bama?

I'm looking at some stats, and it's not pretty.

McCarron 69.2% comp, 14 TD, 3 INT
Team Rushing: 6.0 YPC
Receiving: Top 6 receivers averaging over 10 yards per catch.
Scoring: 40.7 ppg
Defense: 9.7 ppg

Besides Texas A&M (42), no one has scored more than 10. A pretty good Ole Miss was shut out.

So let's hear it boys! and please don't just post this:

Let's hear something tangible. :p

A) In our last 3 halves, we've held UGA and SC to 35 points (23.3 PPG) - (26 PPG if you count full game). Bama's offensive firepower is in the same range as SC and UGA

B) Scoring 3 TD's is a reasonable goal, especially if we can get a big ST/D play.

C) 23.3 - 21 = 2 points, and our improvement week-to-week has outperformed every other team in the country.

D) We believe.

Won't we be facing vandy with the inexperienced robinette rather than acs? We can throttle him

I thought I read that Carta Samuels is questionable even for this weekend. Even if he doesn't play then, it sounds like they expect him back sooner rather than later.

Someone posted earlier about North's catch being a program changer. I agree. I re-watched that play (and several subsequent slo-mo replays due to the injured SC player) about 10 times yesterday, and have a hard time describing how big I think that catch was.

Watching it over and over, the ball almost slipping through his left hand, it just felt like the ball was a microcosm of the long-term trajectory of our program. It almost fell incomplete and North just willed that ball to stay in his hand. It was truly an amazing catch and meant even more than the 39-yard gain and game winning position that it enabled.

And, we should get one of those letters from the league (even though it didn't cause us any harm) acknowledging the complete incompetence of ANY official, to not pull a flag on that play!

I think the officials were too shocked/amazed by the catch to think to penalize.

Also a variation of Stockholm Syndrome in one or two posters regarding our most recently departed coach :)

Heard out for the year but now it sounds like what you are saying. That makes vandy much stronger if he plays

Coasty you seem to really be giving vandy credit this morning. Mizzu beat them like a step child in Nashville. Either you are over estimating vandy or way undervaluing mizzu

My BAD Bruin....... I was ready Clay Travis and got carried away..... let me get a cup of coffee and I'll be ok :hi:

Let me tell you what I think about Bama.

I think they are a bunch of mutha...

and that is why we beat them Saturday!!!!

Lol. IMO most on here are way undervaluing mizzu. They are legit IMO. Unless they get banged up badly this week that game looks bleak from my seat.

I'll agree that both the Barn and Mizzou are tough games for us, but don't overlook their horrid defenses. We can and will score on them, bounce passes and all. It's all on our D limiting the big plays and keeping the QB's from key runs. We do that and we can win both games.

The flow of both games will be similar to the GA game.

Yeah...Mizzlou is for real...didn't seem to skip a beat when Franklin went down... I think many on this board act like we HAVE arrived.... we have a long hard road in front of us but if we play like we have been, and Worley can get his accuracy straightened out we could end with a really decent year.

I guess i am one of the few but he still worries me a lot. He may not be making the mistakes that will looose a game for us but he certainly does not have the skills to win one for us

Not sure I agree on mizzu defense being horrid. IMO they are pretty good on defense. Upper half of the SEC

With a cupcake out-of-conference schedule, anyone's D looks good. Georgia had similar results against us and Mizzou with fewer playmakers. We will score on them. Will it be enough? Who knows.

Oh I am not saying they are elite just pretty good. I think we are very close to each other on defense. They are much better offensively IMO. That coupled with being on the road after a very physical game at Bama leaves me thinking we have a 1in4 shot in Columbia

Let's see how the weekend plays out before assuming the underdog role against Mizzou. Have watched them a couple of times and not sold yet. I think they have overachieved like Vandy did a year ago. UF is a shell of its former self. They are horrid on O and have a lot of injuries to deal with on D.
