The only reason I don't have Bars that high is because I saw the boys from Ensworth absolutely embarrassed Bars to the point where he did not even look like a D1 athlete. And the competition Kelly plays, is a complete joke in D2. I just need to see Kelly against some Formidable comp. I went to the Webb Ensworth game and Kelly was none existent. Barnett still abuses all who lines up in front of him. Hurd has speed size athleticism, Malone can stretch defenses but he has trouble with short intermediate routes. I saw Wharton hold him to one catch a U.S celluar park in 7on7 tourney.Gaulden is the Best Free saftey in the country next to Ed Parris. This guy is ferocious when he runs the alley. His weakness is that he can not cover. Gaulden had difficulty covering Top 2015 prospect Van Jefferson who is one of the best route runners I've seen in a long while. Indy had to put Wharton on him to completely shut him down. That is why I believe Gaulden's talents will be better utilized at Safety. Think about it......How often will Gaulden have an opportunity to tackle while at corner. In the sec, corners need to cover not tackle. Safeties need to tackle. Wharton is really great at 4 positions but I personally like him at shut down corner. And in the Return game. I've never seen higher football IQ on a player in my 31 year career of coaching and recruiting. But Wharton understands the game and understands people.1. Hurd
2. Gaulden
3. Malone
4. Kelly Jr.
5. Bars
6. Barnett
7. Wharton

Yes I see what your saying. If he can learn to cover then fantastic. But he is such a force when tackling, and he's a ball hawk. From what I've seen, there is know way that Gaulden can be the cover guy that D'Andre Payne is. That's why I say just leave Gaulden at safety.I see what you're saying, but about 85% of what you just said is completely different than what the VQ guys and especially Buck Fitzgerald think and have said. Buck personally works with Rashaan.
I think it was Rob Lewis who said Gaulden would probably be a high 4 star if not a 5 star if he had played last year. I think his cover skills are underrated. But no worries, he'll be learning from CWM. He's in good hands.

I thought Buck has always said Gaulden is a safety but Hubbs and Fortenberry think CB?
Reason he plays safety is because Indy has two lock down corners. This allows Rashaan to do what he does best ''run the alley''. If he plays CB at UT then he will never get to display his tackling abilities with our linebackers we have coming in. Leave him at SafetySome top talent in Tennessee. 5A I think (I'm from GA and I'm more familiar with HS FB down here). He's already played Beech (Jalen Hurd's team that won state last year) and he had 30 tackles or so lol.
The catch is we've almost exclusively talked to him about playing CB and he's playing S in HS. It will be a transition, but those tackling skills as a CB  Unfair.
I thought Buck said he could play either CB or S?
I know the VQ guys think he's strictly a CB. I like his length and physicality on the outside.
He's versatile though. Another reason I think he ends up at CB is our lack of depth and playmakers there.
Nah we need his ball skills at CB. Sure tackling CBs are an underrated thing to have.Reason he plays safety is because Indy has two lock down corners. You really need to be about 7 deep at DB, whether they're safeties or corners or whatever, to play against the Missouris, Texas A&Ms, and Auburns of the world.
I don't think we'll see a trend where teams are putting fewer receivers on the field. I pretty sure, if anything, teams will continue towards having more guys on the field that can catch a football.
There will always be a spot for a corner or safety who can close to the football.
That being said at this point I think Gaulden is a day 1 starter at nickel and eventually he's a starting free safety.

I could see thatLion, I'm starting to come around to your way of thinking on Wharton. Dude is an all around great football player. If Evan berry is set on playing o I hope Vic plays corner. If Evan is convinced to play cb I'd like Vic at slot, where he could be lethal at converting 3rd downs. The way Gaulden crushes people I want to see him in dime and nickel at least. I bet he could pop some balls loose ESP against teams who like to toss it to the TE over the middle. That's where I hope rashuan is... Roaming the middle
Yea but it's fun though isn't it, and that's what this forum is for. Fan short for fanatic. We are crazy.Butch and staff will decide where to play him....pretty sure they know more about that then all the "hey play him here play him there folks".
Never fails to crack me up when we get these posts where everyone has a better ideal about where someone should be played or for that matter even recruited.
