Sure they were. Some fans just live in a snow globe, while others don't make excuses and realize it's next man up and about recruiting and depth. Apparently UGA is just not that deep of a team. By the way, who was missing on defense? Because that's the side of the ball that really looks awful.

Their starting two safeties were out also, same with our game. We really can't say much since we couldn't beat their 4th string aka JV team. Who would be our players for 4th-8th string WR be? Who would our RB be?

You should never have 3 out of 4 guys starting in the secondary that are true freshmen. Either horrible recruiting or coaching. Perhaps both. That is their problem, their DC is nothing but hot air.

Btw, there is someone on vols 247 that her son plays on the same team as Malone. I'll try to see if they can find out if he is going to the Vandy game. :)

She has said that after the OV, we have basically caught UGA. Good guys here in the end, IMO.

Eh, we had players missing too. And we had 3 questionable penalties in UGAs final drive to even put the game in OT for them to win. Keep skating over that though, it builds more a false sense of who UGA really is this year. Good job exaggerating that teams go from 1st string players to 4th string JV players as well. That comment doesn't really even make sense. So I guess Coach Richt decided to forego putting in 2nd and 3rd stringers to put in 2 4th string safeties. All teams have injuries. Anyone who says otherwise is just being ignorant.

We were missing several of our better players in that game as well. The way Uga has recruited I can't feel sorry for them and their injuries. We have been playing outmanned at UT for years now. The guys they did have in that game at WR had plenty of catches btw them. Way more than the UT WRs had coming into this season.

They were down to their 4th 5th 6th string WR. Without looking, most fans couldn't name our 7th string WR.

Bingo, you nailed one of our biggest problems. In a lot of positions we don't have any players beyond the 2 deep and at some we don't even have enough to have a 2 deep. A team like Ga could still bring in highly rated players and we don't even have players that deep in the rotation.

Not quite. Conley, the kid that made the incredible one handed TD catch, has been a starting WR since day one. Actually came out of their spring practice as their offensive MVP.

UT has had some players lost or missing this year as well. Jones to his great credit has managed those situations pretty well. Players who might have made a big difference vs UGA and/or UF: R Jones, M Williams, Saulsberry, E Gordon, Ayres, J Smith, C Vereen, D Young, Couch....

UGA lost 3 of their top 4 WR's btw and still had their top TE a Sr, Wooten a Sr, Conley a talented Jr, several talented underclassmen, and a few more upperclassmen.... IOW's, their reduced state is better than UT has had going for it up until the UGA game when the young guys finally started playing well.

If Richt fails to develop his depth then that is hardly an excuse.

If you have an 85 scholarship roster and are a major program with good walk-ons - how is it that you supposedly have no depth due to injuries? They might not have brought the right mix with the travel squad. If you run 3 and 4 wide, which both programs do a lot of, you are going to need 8-9 receivers that can play at an SEC level for each game. You know it's going to always be that way due to injuries, so you plan accordingly.

Josh Malone would be in the top 5 WR rotation the second he steps foot on campus. Hope that is with us and not UGA.

If anyone hasnt noticed Marlon Brown had a non career at UGA and is now the go to receiver at Baltimore. Why did Richt waste this kids talent while there? Does he play favorites to Georgia kids? Is he an idiot?

To be fair, Torrey Smith is the "go-to receiver" in Baltimore.

Brown starts opposite him, and has played decently well. His opportunity was opened though with an injury to Jacoby Jones in the ooening game of the season.

Brown was injured A LOT in college. He had a decent senior season. He's already fought hamstring injuries in Baltimore.

Brown was the go to guy yesterday. I was very surprised.

Yes he was. Well, moreso Tandon Doss and Dallas Clark, but Brown caught 3 balls for 71 yards I believe.

Torrey was blanketed with Sam Shields and either Safety depending which side he lined up on.

Brown has played pretty well thus far. Talent wasn't really his issue so much as durability.

Note that I also agree with him. I like where we are. Especially if Worley progesses

Not sure why Worley would make any difference. At most he plays with him one year. After that he likely gets Ferguson, Dobbs, or a potential stud that they recruit over them.
